Front License Plate
I am thinking about not displaying my front license plate and have a couple questions for all the members whose states require them. How many of you disregard the law and how many have gotten tickets for not displaying it? Your response is appreciated.

Re: Front License Plate (RDRUNR)
I live in Ohio, which requires front and back plates. In my judgment, about 50% of Corvette and other sports car owners decide not to put the front plate on. I do display mine (much as it pains me :cry ) because there is no reason to give a cop an automatic justification for pulling you over (especially if your Vette is painted "arrest me red" like mine is.

Re: Front License Plate (RDRUNR)
I've been popped for every GT I've owned for not having a front plate. Some cities around here issue a repair warrant where once you show them that the plate has been installed the ticket goes away. In Minneapolis it's a straight fine, they don't care if you ever actually put the plate on.
This weekend a car was parked behind mine with the rear end smashed inside out and the rear plate on the rear deck. He got a ticket. My car nada. I think they're actually letting me slide because it's a Corvette, although now that I've said that...

No tickets for a front plate. :blueangel:
One car has a front plate and the other doesn't. They could use this excuse to pull you over so if your not hiding anything I don't see a problem with it. If I was ever pulled-over for a front plate I think just going to court and showing that you have it on is all that's required.

Re: Front License Plate (vetterar)
Owned a Vette two years and two months...two tickets! ($130 total).
About half the people don't run them around here...but the poopers have been getting silly about this.
My second ticket...a low rider Blazer with wheels literally hanging out of the sides of the vehicle (you could see the whole tire) was in front of me...and the pooper pulled me over!
Yes officer, my missing front plate was much more of a hazard than those wheels hanging out of that Blazer...thank you!

Here in NY they have been clampin down on it. Personally I HATE the front plate. I wish I could put the Dummy plate back in. I was stopped by a trooper at a checkpoint and he gave me the ticket. It's not worth the hassle any more. Besides, here in NY its a $40.00 fine, and a 35.00 surcharge!!! :mad :mad :mad :mad
So, needless to say, I put the plate on. :(

Re: Front License Plate
While I don't agree with the front plate law, I think if a person gets a ticket for this they shouldn't blame the cops or whine and try to get out of it. The best solution is to pay the fine. Them try getting the law changed.....legally!

Minnesota requires front plates. I was pulled over twice in a 2 month period for not displaying one. No tickets, but I put it on - wasn't worth the risk. It is also against the law here to use either the clear or the smoked covers over them - stopped for those, too, but not ticketed.

I put my plate on even though I hate the way it looks. I know I would kick myself in the butt if I got a ticket for not having one on.

I have had two $70.00 tickets for failure to display :mad :bs :cuss Finally put it on with a contoured cover. Will put some tint on the cover to help appearance some... All in all, it doesn't look too bad.

Re: Front License Plate (RDRUNR)
I had a ticket for no front plate months ago, left the plate on with one of those clear plastic covers. Weeks later I was pulled over again for I dont know what...looking like a fast car! The cop takes my license and reg. walks around the car and hands it back to me...said he never see's vette's with a front plate and thanked me for complying with the law :D :D :D

Re: Front License Plate (ronsrkt)
Its a $100.00 fine now.
No front plate no red light photo ticket.
A red light photo ticket is $275.00. So a no plate ticket is still cheaper.
A CHP officer told me that Corvette owners are the first to cry when thier Corvettes get stolen? What that has to do with a front plate is a leap?
Its a stupid law, but photo tickets are big money for the owners of the photo equipment. A private aero-space company owns the photo equipment.
I don't run a front plate. 1 ticket in the last year for no front plate.

I had our Corvette in Colorado for 2 years without a front plate, and was never stopped, although it was supposed to be on. When I got transferred to Missouri, I heard that they will ticket you, so I put it on. Once in a while, I'll have a cold brew for the final 30 miles or so home, and sure enough, that's about when I'd get pulled over for the plate!

Re: Front License Plate (RDRUNR)
I used to live in NJ which required front plates. I figured that since I had to have something legal up front I might as well make the most of it. So, I got vanity plates. :D
At least it looks better than a bunch of random letters and numbers!!! :yesnod:
Now that I live in GA, which doesn't require a front plate, I got the Ram Air Induction Kit installed. Hopefully, I won't have to move to a state that requires front plates again.

Re: Front License Plate (November Soul)
That's the same thing I've heard (I don't have a front plate either), but what about Motorcycles? Why don't they have to have a front plate??
No front plate here either & haven't been stopped in the 9 or 10 years I've had the car. Damn, good point.....hummmmmmm
