Burning Brakes
If you can find a nice not rusty miata in your area , the 1.8 in the later 90's cars are a little quicker but the 1.6 in the early 90's do the job well.
Top down 30 mpg and a hoot to drive with a cheap set of lowering springs.
In the past few years I have been buying them for winter drivers, I get cheap transportation all winter and my money back in the spring.

Have a 95 XJS vert, auto 4.0. Excellent road car & 25-26 mpg. Not fast, handles well, weighs 4000+ lbs. EXCELLENT brakes. Ford bought Jag around 1991, no electrical issues with mine other than a dirty power window switch. Have about 96K on it now, the only major expense was a new (300.00) AC compressor. 6.0 V12's add 300lbs nose weight. They are faster but will plow the nose in a fast/tight hair pin. A SBC conversation kit is available = now its fast & handles well. XJS also available in coupe.
XJ6's are really nice Vanden Plas models = top of the line. SBC's also fit nicely.
2000 up to about 2004 XK's are 8 cylinder aluminum motors & had trouble with the Nikasil cylinder wall coating flaking off = destroyed engine.
If I loose the engine or trans in mine it will get a Chevy conversation.

Id agree with all that, Ive had both XJ6 and XJ8 Sovereign and yeah, lovely cars, but it wasnt just 2000 onwards with the Nikasil probs, earlier engines suffered from it as well, also the early (90s) engines had plastic timing chain adjusters ! fortunately I caught mine in time before they disintegrated and changed them for the later aluminium ones..but other than that, great cars, especially the sports button on the XJ8! that could really put a rocket up its !!!!
