Default Radio versus battery?

My friends and I are having a beach party and my C4 BOSE sound system has been volunteered to provide the music. Key will be in the "off position" until stereo CD automatically turns off and needs restarting. How often should I start the car and how long should I run it for when I do? I have no info on the battery.

It's going to be a good party provided I'm not left with a car that won't start.

You are bringing your C4 on the beach?

Using something else will be easier and cheaper than dealing with a dead battery. Playing your car stereo for a little while won't hurt but that kind of situation usually turns into a long time then you have problems.

Starting your car every so often during a beach party is NOT going to charge up your battery enough to make a difference.

I predict a dead battery before the party is over.

I don't mean to beat down your idea. I bought a little radio/CD player for my then girlfriend 10 years ago. Now my wife.
We take it out in the boat with us, I have a portable SXM radio for the boat WHEN the engine is running.
The battery in the vette is new but I would not want to tax any electrical system, she is finicky enough.

Well! That seems unanimous. Although I have a dash readout for charging volts I don't have one for if the battery is fully recharged.

Crappola! I've already volunteered!

Why not get any of the bluetooth portable speakers? It will give you 6to 9 hours in one charge, and the flexibility of anyone pairing their phone or ipod to it and listen to their library, or pandora, etc.
I love my Bose sound link for that, but there are several options with Monster Clarity, Sony, etc.

As others have said, not a good idea, plus the alternator isn't really meant to charge a battery, it's meant to maintain a battery. Dead or even 1/2 dead battery's should be charged with an actual charger otherwise you put a strain on you're alternator!

Boombox is the best way to go, someone you know must have one kicking around!

I would play the radio & take a booster as a back up.

Cheaper than a DJ.

I have used my Bose Soundlink plugged to my booster and it worked great.
A booster to power up any portable music system is a better choice than getting the Vette stranded by choice.

We have a live band.

But they're only for two hours (unless you include the two hours they warm up in.). The party runs 48 hours straight, with time out for sleeping/passing out and a round of golf.

We've got four waterfront lots, two cabins, a 50 mph speedboat, and clams and oysters right on the beach of Puget Sound.

We also get a free visit by the police.

We have lousy reception.

I did not even know about Bluetooth so thanks. I guess it will be an fashioned Boombox.

If you're having a band loud enough to bring a police visit, they must be amplified. Where are they getting their power? If they have access to 120vac, then bring a battery charger and hook in on your C4's battery and Bose your **** off!
