I live a half mile from the lake and can be to the marina in 10 minutes. The wife, daughter and I are on the boat every Saturday late April through late September. It's a 27' Carver cruiser and I will never get rid of it unless I upgrade it. The 89 Vette will never leave me either! The boat is great family fun.

I remember a old saying: The happiest moment in a boat owners life is when he buys it and sells it. I'll take the Vette every time.

BOTH
driving the vett to powell to spend a week end on water in the S R 310
if one or the other had to go it would be the vett. good boats are harder to come by that vetts.
also just cant match that feeling of twin 454's snapping on plane on a glassed off lake.

If you can leave the boat in the water and don't have to tow
the boat is nice but you can still get more use from the vette.the boat seems like a good idea at first but for most
if you have to put it in and out of the water its more work than its worth

I've owned a 1 boat, 2 motorcycles, and 2vettes.
Loved being out on the boat, however, one hour to pack the truck with all the stuff the fam needed for the day.(no help from kids) . Shlep all down to the dock (no help),load on to the boat(no help), then wash down when finished (no help) you see where I,m going with this.
Motorcycles, sucks getting caught in the rain. My back dosen't let me ride anymore, one hour on the bike and I don't walk for 3 days.
The vette. I walk out of my kitchen into the garage, get in the car, turn the key,hit the garage door opener and off i go.
Keep the Vette.

I enjoy driving my Vette over to the marina to use my boat, enjoy using the boat, and then driving the Vette back home.
Vette parts are expensive, but remember that boat stands for Break Out Another Thousand...
I don't wish to be without either!

I have had several boats. Mostly small runabouts for skiing. They were lots of fun. We even did some camping with them out on islands in the Mississippi.
However, we have so many things going on that it was hard to devote a whole day or weekend to boating. We found we just didn't use it a lot. It was a lot of time and work getting everything together and towing it to water. We tried renting a slip at a marina one year. We did use it more often, but leaving it in the water caused some algae growth and we wound up having to refinish the hull. Maintenance is a common thing. Mine had a small chevy motor, but I had to tear it down because of warped heads. On our outboards we had to repair lower units several times.
The Corvettes we use every day.

Then drive home and enjoy the ride (except for crappy Michigan roads).

I like both, but no longer own a boat, I prefer the Corvette..... more fun in my opinion. If you are actually driving them hard in events, competition, etc... the excitement of owning the vette is amplified substantially.
Boats are great, but I'd only get out 2 or 3 times a year..... I now live just a couple of hundred yards from a Marina that rents really nice boats, so that's my game now. If the damn thing breaks out on the water, I call them and they bring me out another boat for me to break. ... life is good.
If you get out half dozen times or more per year, owning the boat probably makes sense, but if only a few times like me, then renting is the best deal going.
