1986 c4 vet electrical problem?
Well guys here's my diagnosis.
Please help me and get back comments and yeah much appreciated and i will get back you thanks!!
1986 corvette
mostly stock
new battery
new starter
newer exhaust
when i purchased the car things were running fine. I dont drive the car much (as its my project to make beautiful) the battery seemed like it was drained one day starting it so, i purchased and new one installed etc. Everything was fine. Went to start the car one day and nothing. The car didn't want to crank over, so off to the shop where they fixed it.
car was running great with no issues out of the shop when starter was replaced. of course there was an oil change, the shop fixed a small trans leak. and did some minor tests (or the cheap safety test as some people know it!) to make sure everything was running right .
About a 2 weeks later
Now i go to fire the car up and the battery is completely dead.
I charged the battery and the car fired right up. It drove fine.
The battery later died.
Any suggestions? Help? Could you relate? let me know thanks!!! i can only share what i know too!
Please help me and get back comments and yeah much appreciated and i will get back you thanks!!

Alternator? They will check it for free at most auto parts stores.
You might think about investing in a battery tender if you don't drive it that much. I got mine at Auto Zone.
Here's the one I got for $39.99. It works awesome!

I had battery issues for years, it got progressively worse over the years. could be something draining the battery, for me it was drivers power seat would attempt to move when power was off. Took me sitting in the car about 5 min after I took the key out pondering some crap running through my mind. I pulled the fuse due to me being lazy and my battery issues are gone. Im 95% positive it's the switch stuck.
If I was you I would get the alternator & battery checed for free at a autoparts store. If those both check out, something is running and causing a drain.

Burning Brakes
Pull codes
If the voltage regulator on the alternator is going bad it can fry your battery as well as cause a multitude of other problems. I would guess that the problem has something to do with the alt.
You can get it tested at most hardware stores. Make sure that when you get a new one it has the correct output.

Check to see if the vanity mirror lights are on.
Or the glovebox light.
Or the under hood lights
None of these?

Sounds like negative wire either touching or hooked up to a positive wire!check for gauges or something else not working-then check voltage coming out of it. Tommy

Burning Brakes
Drain
I had the same problem with my 86. Most of the time its the fusible links that are connected behind the battery (on my 86). I had one of links that controlled the cooling fan relay that was blown. Just my own experience.

fusible links disconnect something if it drains too much current. if they are blown, check to see what is on that circuit. usually things on a fusible link is alarm, alternator, etc. stuff without a fusible link but has a fuse gets power after the key is turned on.
