Default Did a little paint work on my new 95

I picked up a 95 coupe the other day for a great deal, it came with a new set of leather seat covers, but needed some paint work on the driver quarter and door bottom. I went to two paint shops and both said you would be able to tell it had been painted, and they wanted $650 to do the repair. I bought $125 worth of supplies and did it myself. I color sanded it out just until it was the same shine as the older paint, and I am very happy with the results.

Went to the auto paint store, and got a pint of color, a pint of clear and hardener, a spray can of primer, wax and grease remover, cups strainers, I already had several grits of sand paper to color sand and also sand the area to prep.

I filled the damaged area with spot putty, primed it shot the primed area with color, and then cleared the entire panel. I shot it with one of the disposable aerosol sprayers, and laid the clear on thick so I could color sand. The next day I sanded with 600, 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit sand paper. I then used a Griots dual action buffer with McGuires heavy cut cleaner, then Griots Machine Polish 1,2 and 3.

I only polished it out until it matched the rest of the shine of the old paint.

Lots of orange peel on the clear, but I just put on plenty so that I could color sand it smooth.

I have another spot to do on the door, I will use one again for it.

Nice job. Can you get another picture from the same angle as the original?

Not a very good pic, it was dark in the shop last night.

Thanks guys, I am very happy with it.

The damaged area was just past the factory primer into the bare glass.
