Help! new hb, no belt, still squeaky..
Heard the dreaded squeaking noise coming from the crankshaft, replaced the harmonic balancer even with no belt it is still chirping like a song bird. Any ideas?

The only time I heard the "dreaded squeaking noise" was when I changed my oil and didn't fill the oil filter with oil before installing it. The main bearings ran dry and started squeaking until they got oil pressure.
Since then I ALWAYS prefill the oil filter...

I always prefill the oil filter, it's good practice. Thankfully no, it's not the mains.
Timing cover seal looked great, (bought a new one before hand just to be sure). Left the current one in because it was in such good shape. I read something about a cracked crank pulley making the same sound?

Had a similar experience when I bought my 87.
The P.O. changed the intake and when he hooked the crank case vent hose back up, he put it to the vacuum source instead of the air cleaner.
The engine squealed like a pig because it was trying to vacuum 'lock' because of the lack of crankcase ventilation.
He actually hooked the PCV to the air cleaner where the crank case vent hose should have gone.
I reversed the two connections and that solved the problem.
Don't know if that's the case with yours but it's worth a check.
