What are the concerns?

I just had two small stars repaired on my windshield last week. I was thinking about replacing the windshield but I'm glad I didn't go that route when I didn't need to. I've seen where some guys had problems but really didn't know it was such a huge ordeal.

its been a HUGE ordeal.. i have an appointment to drop the car off at the Chevrolet dealer on Wednesday morning. i've been working with them and they were able to obtain the metal window trim as well as what they say is a quality seal and a reputable installer. fingers are crossed.
the reason that i'm having the entire windshield replaced is because of a large vertical and a large horizontal crack that have developed from a small rock chip.

In your case you didn't have any other option. Good to hear you have the dealer working with you and I just hope this all comes together with a good installation.

thank you. i really hope that it comes out well as well. my 94 is my favorite car that i own and while its not perfect, its still something i cherish and want to be done right.

I know what you mean about your vette. I've had faster cars and newer cars but my 93 is the most fun of any car I've owned over the years and there have been a lot of them.

dealership called a few mins ago...windshield frame is rusted and needs repaired. for being a Florida car, i'm surprised that it has a rusted windshield frame. its going over to the body shop and should be done tomorrow. i just can't wait to get my car back..

I'd be curious to know where the dealer sourced the windshield trim from.
This past winter I decided to replace all my weatherstripping and found some rust around my winshield. So, I removed everything except the windshield, removed the rust, painted the frame and wound up using sealant near the window to reinstall the trim. I also painted the trim while I had it out. The hardest part was making a clean edge for the sealant. Luckily they make masking tape for this.
Even though I bent my windshield trim slightly on removal, it did go back in place. I hope it all works out for you.

i have to stop at the dealer and pick up my garage door opener out of the Vette so i'll ask them while i'm there. i would also like to inspect the rust and see the extent of the damage.

When this sort of things occurs, it's nice to remember, as a compensating thought, that while many owners of new cars find that a replacement headlight costs them hundreds of dollars, ours cost us under $20 for a simple, old-fashioned halogen bulb.

since its at the dealer, they are handling the repair. i would've sanded it down and treated it and painted it, but they said that the work is only covered if they do it. i offered, lol. hopefully it will be ready today as promised.

Hope you get your Corvette fixed. Must be frustrating for you to wait this long. The rust looks like surface only. These C4's are extreamly rust resistant. Keep us updated.
