OBX Exhaust
I have a 1986 corvette, and im graduating from high school so my dad is looking to get me a graduation present. I mentioned an exhaust system for my car and he said if was reasonably priced he would agree, so I have been looking at the OBX exhaust. I know people had mentioned the quality was good and the sound was nice aswell but havent seen much about drone especially on the 86-91 models. A little drone is acceptable, (im fine with the stock systems drone). Was wondering if I should purchase this system or save up for a Corsa system. Thanks, heres the exhaust incase your wanting to see.

I went with a Magnaflow catback. Drone was not bad. I used the OBX headers (nice quality) shortly after the magnaflows were on. I also deleted the precats. I can tell you that the drone was worse. I don't mind it. I prefer it a bit loud and for that reason for me the drone was worth it. However, if drone is a slight bit of an issue, don't do what I did.

I put the OBX Cat-Back System on my 96' and really like it. There is a drone at low speed but at highway speed it is just a purr. It is loudest at idle to 45mph and wide open throttle but just the right amount. At highway speeds you hear it but can easily carry a conversation or listen to music. Here are some pics.

Looks great! Thanks for the pics but I've noticed on the 86-91 system there seems to be an x-pipe, will this affect sound/drone at all compared to the 92-96 system?

The 96' has an "H" pipe with resonators so I'm sure there is a difference. I think your selection also comes with two short cats that may make a difference also. Although it is a different system I posted pics so you could see fit and finish. My system cost $360.00 plus shipping and was well worth it.

Ordered the 86-91 OBX Racing exhaust system and received it today but its at the exhaust shop being installed. It was $480 shipped and the quality and finish was very nice, will update with pictures, info, and possibly a sound clip when I get my car back back.

Got it installed and is very nice sounding, and no drone at 45-70 mph (which I didn't expect). Sounds very good at idle and full throttle. And of course looks awesome! Well worth the money, here's the video:

No I didn't get the headers with it but am looking to get them in the future and yes it does come with 2 small high flow cats, the exhaust shop also took out my 2 precats and welded a pipe inbetween them.

Yours sounds very similar to mine. I would not call it a drone but under load, but not WOT, from idle to 40 mph it is loudest. Once you hit highway speeds it's purrrrfect. I love the sound of wide open throttle. It now sounds like it should.

I love the look and sound of this exhaust, but see that they are only made for 86-91 with this style of muffler with the dual pipes. What will it take to make this work on my 84? At the very least, shouldn't I be able to just utilize the two rear pipes and mufflers and bolt or weld on behind my stock cat. converter? Thanks in advance for your replies...

I'm not too familiar with the 84-85 exhausts all too well you'd have to ask someone more experienced. Also with the system comes with an option for true duals, to not use the xipe or cats.
