wipers work at their own discretion
I have a 94 corvette and in the last couple months my wipers have developed a mind of their own. when i turn them on they always come on but when i go to turn them off, the stop when they want to. same for the delay function, they may work properly or they just go full on when the delay is chosen. any ideas? is it the wiper control switch or the lever itself?

Mine does that too. I changed out the Wiper Control Cover (which includes the park switch) and worked for a bit. So, it looks to be the turn signal lever for me...which I really don't want to mess with right now. My lever is really sloppy, so makes even more sense for it to be my problem.

same here
I have an 04 and it's doing the same thing. They won't park in the off position and move just a little at times and may even make a full sweep or even go all the way to the left and stop. I'm going to get into it some time this week. I'll post my results. I'm thinking it may the the wiper switch or possible a bad contact. Most likely the switch.

There's a park switch inside the wiper motor that often goes bad. Check the factory service manual if you have it (get it if you don't)... in the manual for my '92 there was a table of common wiper symptoms and their diagnoses.

I looked at mine again yesterday and found the wipers would not turn of when the wiper switch was in the off position. It looks like the switch may be bad. I'm going to look at the service manual wiring diagram and see if I can trace this problem out. They should go off when the switch is turned off and power is interupted unless there is another source of power to the wiper motor. Does any of yours remain on after you place the switch in the "off" position?

Yep. That's exactly what mine do. Can take 5 seconds to 2 minutes for them to quit working after in the off position. And even when on delay, sometimes they'll just go full blast.
To recap, I've replaced my park switch (which is both cheap and easy to do). My wiper switch (not the arm, but the actual switch) is also very loose so it's another good indicator for me.

Remove the circuit board and check the solder connnections.
That's generally where the problem will be when it doesn't want to shut off.
Also check the contact under the cam.. (lower right side of cam where the word 'pin' is pointing to)(park switch)

I thought I had a service manual so I could see the wiring diagram. I ordered one today (on a CD). Does the power to the circuit board and/or motor go through the wiper switch located on the steering column? I will pull the board and take a look at it. Thanks for the info.

I want to post a picture of the wiring diagram but it appears I'm not permitted to do so. It seems as though power to the motor goes through the wiper switch. If the switch is turned off then power should be interupted and the wipers should stop moving. It has to be the switch.

All, thank you for the suggestions, Rubocop i believe you are right, the power goes thru the switch and if the switch is off, so should be the wipers. I am going to change my switch on the tree. i will let you all know when im done.

I replaced the stalk and that did not work, i am going to replace the windshield wiper control switch that the stalk plugs into and see if that works. Does anyone know how to remove it? do i need to remove the steering wheel?
