Default muffler eliminators

Anyone have any thoughts on installing muffler eliminators? I am thinking about installing them temporary until i get complete exhaust kit installed.

I had them on an 87 I used to own but replaced them as they were too loud.
Don't get me wrong. They sound nice and muscular but in certain situations they are very obnoxious to others.
I think the worst was when I was in a crowded urban area and had to apply the gas to climb a small hill while going slow. When the rpms rise and the tranny has not shifted out of first gear I would get some nasty looks.
They do sound great at idle and cruising down the highway though!

I have baffled ones on my 85 and they sound sweet. They are actually quiet at idle, but when you get on it, it sounds like an old school Vette with side-pipes. At cruising speed, they are definitely louder than a stock muffler, but not enough to bother me and I'm still able to have a conversation with my passenger.

Go with the eliminators, you won't regret it. Got mine installed a few weeks ago and love them.

I've had mine for about 7 months and love them. They are loud at times but I don't really mind it. I'm amazed how great they sound for only $150.They sound like a much more expensive system.

No need to pay $150. Just go to your local muffler shop and have them remove the factory mufflers and weld in straight pipe to the factory tips. Same result, much cheaper.

Mine actually cost $150 also, but i'm a little picky and wanted all stainless pipe(which isn't a whole lot) and welds with SS LT1 tips. I figured it was still cheap enough if I decided down the road to ditch it and switch to a full on cat back system, but as of right now i'm totally satisfied with the way it sounds.

I had them on my '94. When I first put them on I thought they were way too loud, but I got to really like them.

At idle they are about the best sounding deep growl I have heard.

When you are moving you can keep them relatively quiet with low throttle, or make them really loud when you put your foot into it.

On the highway you can hear them, but for me it was not too bad a sound and I could talk with a passenger or listen to the radio.

I sold the '94 a couple years ago and I miss the sound. Probably will get another one and put eliminators on it.

Car sounds aggressive, I like it. BUT...please at least open your garage door any time your going to run your engine or figure out a way to vent your exhaust. CO is very dangerous and it can "get" you in a confined space quicker than you think.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but do you guys think if I got muffler eliminators on my '93, would the cops here really notice or care? I live in Virginia and they have very strict laws on messing with the exhaust system. Though I'm too cheap to buy a $1k+ Corsa cat-back, so I'm thinking about getting my local muffler shop to weld the tips to some pipe to get the same effect. I usually keep the car under 1800rpms so I don't think noise will be a huge issue. So is it a good idea, or bad?

I used to have a '94 Z28 with headers and a flowmaster super 40, and it was VERY loud. I was never bothered by the cops though, I even had a few compliment me on how good it sounded.

As long as you are not required to have mufflers for inspection purposes you will be fine, providing the rest of your system is stock. Once you start deleting the cats and such, the eliminators get much louder. The best description that comes close to what the eliminators sound like with an otherwise stock system is an early 90's model mustang gt.

The eliminators on an LT1 exhaust system will be loud. One of the first mods I did to mine. It provided a very raw, good old fashioned Chevy small block sound.

I found it pleasing except for those in town/city situations where taking off from a light and such. It was a tad obnoxious for this. My remedy was to replace the resonator with a Magnflow dual in/dual out muffler. This helped to tone the exhaust note and I receive many compliments on it.

Mine sound great. Couldn't give a crap what the neighbors or people going down the street think.
