85 Engine Rebuild - head recommendations please
OK...I have my cam and intake choice set, now I'm shopping for heads. I'd love to get a set of 113 heads, or even a set of 128's, but I'm coming up empty. The ones I find I feel are too expensive and still will need to be rebuilt. For that cost, I can get new, maybe.
Does anyone have any aftermarket head suggestions like heads from ProComp, DART, Edelbrock, AFR, Summit, etc? I'm keeping my build mild using the stock type flat tappet lifters and a mild cam (212/218). The stock TPI runners will be replaced with a set of SLP ones and the manifolds will be replaced with a set of headers, either short or long tube. I'd like the compression the same or a little higher than stock, which is 9.0:1 I believe for the 85 L98. Also, I do not want to have the ECM tuned. The stock ECM needs to be able to run all this.
Any help and suggestions is appreciated.

If you get used or worked 113s you may want to reconsider your cam & intake parameters. There are other good/better heads but I'm not up to speed on those; perhaps others will come with info in that area.
What have you chosen to date in those area??

I've chosen a mild cam that I was told will work within the stock 85's ECM parameters. It is COMP Cam #12-402-4 with a 212/218 duration. The rest of the internals will be stock. As I stated above, headers and SLP runners will be used as well.

On my carbed 1984 I went with Summit/Dart SS #152123 large valve, 72cc modern chamber, cast iron heads. They have screw in rocker studs, .525 lift springs and are completely assembled for $630 shipped to your door! Just bolt on and go. 212-218 cam should work with little or no computer mods.
