Is Polyfill needed for rear enclosures?
I installed two 8" Kicker Subwoofers in the stock rear enclosures of my 91 Vette (Coupe) and was wondering if I should add Polyfill and how much?
I know Polyfill slows down the soundwaves too make the speaker sound like it's in a larger enclosure but, the stock speaker enclosures look like they have a lot of internal volume already. I was wondering if any C4 Vette owners have needed to add Polyfill with 8" Subs?...
These Kicker 8" Subs require a Minimum Sealed enclosure of 0.5 cu ft. and a Maximum Sealed enclosure of 1.2 cu ft. Does anyone know how many cubic ft. of space the stock rear speaker enclosures have?
Thanks

I found that 0.5 cubic ft. = 3.74 Gallons.
The rear speaker enclosures don't look like they can hold 3.74 gallons of liquid so, using the general rule of 1 cubic ft. of polyfill for every cubic ft. Of space, I'm going to add about a 0.5 cubic ft. of Polyfill to make the subwoofer sound like it's in a larger enclosure.

Update:
I added 0.5 cubic ft. of Polyfill to each speaker enclosure, which is approximately half the bag I bought at Walmart for $5.00. The polyfill looks like the fluffy stuffing material found inside of a blanket, I just cut the sheet in half.
The Bass sound is Awesome and the Hollowness is gone!
Hope this helps someone!...
