Default whats the point of a c5 conversion kit?

I, like many of you, used to see the 'C5 conversion kit' for a c4 to add a similar front and rear tailights to a c4.

The absolutely crazy thing about this, is I actually know of a guy who did this.

He's part of (used to be?) a local corvette club in my area.

He's cracked up his car quite a bit at track events also. So I imagine the C5 conversion kit has been repaired a couple times.

Anyways, whats the point of the c5 conversion kit?

do these 'add value'?

1. its generally assumed the c4 is a better looking car (c5 has the 'wide' rear and body work).
2. Is there an aerodynamic advantage?

Im in no way thking about doing it, but Im curious of the 'reasons' why people did these?

I envision the 'gold chain' 'chest-hair' corvette types might do this kind of mod to make it look like they have more money then they do buy having a 'newer car'.....

i just think it makes the car look ridiculous and in some cases they are so poorly executed they look just plain awful. some are done well and look ok, but for the most part i don't generally care for them. you want a C5 look, go out and buy a C5.

The only reasons I could imagine spending that much would be to get the "halo mod" LED tail lights 'cause they do look pretty awesome. Aside from that I think it's a case of "more dollars than sense".

How long before someone puts out a kit to make the C6 look like a C7?

It's just another reason to turn on it and follow it for miles down the highway.

To answer your question I guess to be different. I think it is a waste because of the cost and if you like the looks of a C5 just buy a C5 and you get the performance upgrade along with the looks.

Well there is already a kit to convert the rear of the C7 to look like the rear of a C6. I guess it depends on how many people hates those pesky round tail lights before a C6 to C7 conversion kit comes out.

I wonder is there is a kit to make the C3 look like a C4. I know there is a kit to make the C5 look like a C1 I have seen it.
