Default Window Tint

I have a 96 CE and I'm thinking about getting the windows tinted but not sure about how dark to go. Anybody have a vette with a black interior with the windows tinted? What % did you go with? How is it at night? I'm leaning toward 35% but no sure.

Thanks,
T

No tinting on mine. You should check for the legal maximum allowable in your state before having it installed.

Not a c4 but black interior with 35%.
It's not an issue at night but it does reflect a little bit.

Mine is 30/20. (Darker on hatch glass) These are the limits in Indy.
It's not bad at all, at night. It really helps with headlights in the mirror, too.

I'm looking to tint my windows as well. Just curious if a dark tint would look good on a white car with a beige interior?

Not sure how the tint factors work.
My guy has 4 different shades.
I used the 1st (lightest) for the sides and the 3rd on the hatch.
Gotta make the local pole-lice-man happy

I'm 35% rear and 30% side. I think it's great. I do have white seats.

Thanks. NJ law says no tint on the side windows but anything on the back. There are two guys in the my club with black Vettes that have 15% tint sides and back but I think that is too dark for me. Thanks to all of your photos I am going to go with 35% on all 3 windows. I'll post some photos when I get it done in a few weeks.

Go limo black if your state law allows it. Otherwise go with what the law allows. I went limo and got pulled over and a ticket. Went lighter. Can't remember what.

On my CE, I got 35 on the sides and 20 on the back hatch. A pretty good combination for living in Phoenix. Any lower in the rear and you won't be able to see out at night. In addition to the awesome cooling properties (I went with a carbon based tint), it is aesthetically amazing! DO IT!

I got the windows tinted a week ago, I went with the 3M Color Stable 35% on all three windows. It is dark enough to help on the sunny days but light enough to be able to see well at night.

Not being able to see at night was my biggest concern but with the 35% tint it is not a problem at all. At night it defiantly helps with the headlight glare from cars behind you. During the day unless you look where you can see the windshield and side window at the same time you would not know they were tinted. If you look in the background of the first photo the blue suv is my daily driver and the back windows on that are darker then the Vette.

"Finally, because N.Y. State's Vehicle and Traffic Law § 375 (12-a) was enacted in 1991 and became effective in 1992, (12-a)(e) states that any vehicle with a model year of 1991 or earlier can have tinted windows that allow for less than 70 percent visible light to pass through. This "grandfather clause" was included in the statute because if the window tint on vehicles from 1991 and earlier was permissible before the statute was enacted, it is not expected that vehicle owners lighten their window tint to now be in compliance.
However, if a 1991 or prior model vehicle's windows were tinted after the statute was enacted, the vehicle's window must contain the sticker as required by § 375 (12-a)(d), identifying that the tint is legal."
