Tire Suggestions, anyone?
The tires on my '90 are almost 15 years old, and I think it's (past) time to replace them. Anyone have any suggestions for some good ones that won't be ultra-expensive? They don't necessarily have to be top of the line. I only drive 1-2,000 miles a year, so they'll need replacing again before the tread wears.
I really have no idea how to research tires, so any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks!

Nitto 555 Extremes. I just put a set on my '95
and they are awesome! Great handling,
Great in rain and good tread. My research
showed all positive reviews and long life.
Got my at Discount Tire for around $800

I just went through this. I wound up with BFG T/A KDW2. So far so good. They were reasonably priced when compared to many other. Here is the thread:

And I'm in SoCal. I obviously don't have to worry about the snow, but if I go with max performance summer tires, do I have to worry about driving when it's in the high 40s/low 50s?

BTW, they are being replaced with Nitto 555s. The Missus' C5 has them and I approve.

Learn about tires here.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tiretech.jsp
I found this information the most helpful making my final decision .
Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG) Rating
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Uniform Tire Quality Grade Standards (UTQG) were originated to provide consumers with useful information to help them purchase tires based on their relative treadwear, traction and temperature capabilities.
Manufacturers are not required to provide UTQG standards for winter/snow tires, deep treaded light truck tires and other select tires.
Service Description
A service description identifies the tire's load index and speed rating. It can be found on the sidewall of the tire after the size listing.
The load index is the tire size's assigned numerical value used to compare relative load carrying capabilities. The speed rating is a letter denoting a fixed maximum speed capability.

I put Nitto NT05s on a few years ago and have had good luck. Not an adverse condition tire, but good price and aggressive look. Lots of choices - best of luck.

I like my Falken 512s; agree with bluecorvette87. I also have an '87 and only do the boulevard in Sun City.
They look good and I could not find any brand names that did not cost a mint.
