Exactly. Money isn't everything.

Agreed. For me, its just an honor to be able to restore such a fine car and the driving enjoyment that I will get out of it when its finished will be worth more to me than a monetary value.

I ordered a new torque converter control solenoid from the dealer yesterday. Hoping it will fix my transmission issues. Went to get gas in the car yesterday and on the way back, the trans shifted from overdrive to third gear and then remained in second gear and would not shift at all. Shifts are smooth and clean with no slipping. There are definitely some electrical gremlins afoot here. All the bad shifting started when I plugged in the torque converter control solenoid. I unplugged it before my drive yesterday and all was well until my return trip when the trans was good and warm.

I remember mentioning to you - when I had it rebuilt with a B&M shift kit installed -- the guy got me a "loose converter" -- what ever that means --- could that with a little sea water be compounding the problems ?

Yea the rattle was bent rods and spun bearings. I rebuilt the engine and its running extremely well. ive been having a lot of fun with the car. My son seems to be enjoying it as well.

Not sure what a loose converter is. I didn't find much sea water in the trans luckily. It shifts great unti it gets warm... The plan is a 4+3 swap but until i get all of the parts i would like to drive and enjoy the car...even with the automatic trans.

When I was young, a loose torque converter usually referred to a high stall unit. Usually intended more for drag racing rather than general street driving. Don't know if it still applies today but I'd suspect it does.

I would suspect the same. I'm willing to give the solenoid a try and see where it leads. I'll be sure to post pics of the process.

Didn't know there was a book on this rebuild..lol...Being a truck driver and 86 vert owner, I smile when I go past the Vermilion exit on the pike, knowing there's a real mechanic hiding in the woods ...Getting them put back together....Love it...Thanks for the rebuild...Be safe out there...Thank You

you have done very well with that car. glad you got it instead of me. If I had gotten it, I would probably still be scratching my head over where to start. Should have gave you a holler..am trucker and just delivered a load to Sandusky, then went to Astubula to pick up... drove up oh-2. Darn thing was ice covered.

Yea the winter has been rough here. As far as having a Corvette meet, I made a post last summer inviting any forum member and their family over my place for a meet. See this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/grea...8-31-13-a.html

I host several RX-7 meets at my house and we always have a great time! I've had some fellow Porsche owners over as well for get togethers. Any of you guys are welcome by any time. I'm happy to entertain one or many. My wife loves the company and we have plenty of parking at the house.

Here are some pics from one of the meets last summer at my place:
