Bringing my 84 back to life

I had some lug nuts that looked just like the Dorman ones you bought except for being a silver sheet metal covering. They even had the same "METRIC" lettering on them. I thought they were original on an '86 Monte Carlo SS.
The sheet metal came off of several of them. It separated at the top surface corner so that the "METRIC" lettering surface remained on the lug nut. The lug nut underneath was then too small for the lug wrench to work. I saved the sheet metal covers and slid them over the smaller sized lug before using the wrench. It was pretty crude, but it worked for quite a few years.

About 10 mins. It started flaking apart and was missing a couple pieces. I liked the sticker and didn't like removing it but after my son picked at it and flaked some pieces off, I couldn't let such a nice symbol appear so tattered.

That looks really nice in a picture but glad that's not what I see when I look out my window. It's nice driving weather out here but granted it's with windows up and the heater on but clear dry roads.
I didn't know you bought your 94 as a non running car until I saw it in another thread but nice job on the fix.

Yea Gary, that's a lot of snow! the snow here is packed down but we are in the negative temps at night. Its been a very cold winter. Colder than I remember previous winters being.

Funny story on that. I bought it thinking the opti was bad. I confirmed that it had no spark and took the previous owner's word that the opti was bad as there was no spark. As my first LT1 car, I just assumed that the previous owner's dealership had diagnosed the issue properly. I pulled the opti and it was a little tight to turn but looked good overall. Went to start it and still no spark. Turns out after testing stuff with a multimeter and testing for spark, I found that the ignition coil was bad... I paid like $30 fora new coil..And it may have been the issue all along. I'm not complaining though because I got the car for $3500 and put less than $1000 total in the parts to make the car road worthy.

I couldn't agree more. The guy was asking $3500 and I called him after I saw the pics and he said he had someone coming that night to look at the car. So I told him I would pay for the car via wire transfer from my bank to his right on the spot and pay him full asking price. He quickly agreed and I paid for the car and he mailed the title the same day and I sent a shipping company to get the car. It was at my house within 12 days of payment. Worked out great. Its my favorite car that I have ever owned.

Officially in the market for 4+3 parts. Going to try and get all of the parts by May and when the weather breaks, if I have all of the part I'll take a weekend or so and do the swap.

I agree. My first Corvette was an 84 and it was a 4+3 and I was living a dream come true with that car. I miss it and I want to build this one to pay homage to that car. Wish I could buy it back.. I think about it every day..Maybe some day. Here she is:
