Default Rocker panels

Hello all -

Just wondering if anyone has considered painting the lip hanging down from the rocker panel to help it kinda' blend into the chassis underside of the car.

I have a torch red C4, and the lip hanging-down (perpendicular to the ground) seems to stand out a lot......I thought it might look better painted flat, or semi-gloss black. If you have done this to your C4, do you have any photos?

Next question - how hard is it to remove the rocker panels?...... If I decide to actually take on this project, I thought it might be easier to just remove them and paint them in the basement considering that its winter up here in Wisconsin.

As always, thanks in advance for you suggestions and help,

nummy

Merely remove the bolts along the bottom, and the small torx at the bottom of the inner-fender?.....that's it?

I wish someone had photos of what I'm considering here......I looked on Google images, found nothing.

Start at the front and work towards the rear - there may be one near the end of the rocker that is somewhat obscure. Or with that in mind check the rear most section of the rocker first. The fastener is 4" up and 1 1/4" or so from the rear (very near top edge), aside from that it's the 4 in the door opening and the 6 across the bottom. You'll be happy with the results or do it with black plastic coat stuff and try it first. That stuff just peels off. PlastiDip I believe it is called! It is spelled "Google"!!

I just removed mine to prep the car for a frame rail sand and paint.... Don't forget the little bolt that's located right before the rear wheels under the dog legs. They are hidden behind the wheel wells

I thought I covered those bolts with the 1 1/4 from rear edge, about 4" high, near the top edge! That is correct? Right?

Thank you.

Do you have a photo of the "1 1/4 from rear edge, about 4" high" location you're referring to?

My C4 is a Polar White '94. One of the first weekend projects when I got it was to clean the lower flanges on the rocker panels. I had to lay on a mechanic's creeper to scrub them clean, but you can see them from a distance and more than a few people have remarked that they look like they have never been driven in rain.

They're clean and shiny now but it would have been much more of a pleasure to have done them standing on your feet!!
