windshield header weatherstrip...does it HAve to be glued in?
I just dry-fitted a corvette rubber windshield header weatherstrip into the slots on my 93 vert. I got it from Wilcox corvette.
Its pretty good for what it is.
Do I need to glue this thing in?
It appears to stay in place pretty well, and if Im going to have to replace these things every 6-7 years (ex. the OEM piece was cracked at only 7 years), then thats just more hassle for me to have to scrape out/ peel out the adhesive....
Also, does the 'dielectric grease' work well to protect this 'corvette rubber' brand windshield header weatherstrip?
Ive heard the dielectric grease is recommended to use on the OEM weatherstrips, but what about this reproduction piece from corvette-rubber?

Silicone greese
Not sure what the dielectric stuff is made of but ive used it for years on all my boat electric fittings. On weather stripping ive used Trident pure silicone greese. It comes in a 2oz plastic jar and its advertised for scuba equiptment but its great for alot of things including weatherstripping and you only need a little. Merry Christmas Dave

This was so easy to do (to remove the weatherstrip) that its not worth doing a video on.
There was nothing that could be screwed up.
The only thing that stinks is you will want some touch-up paint because you will chip off some of the paint in the frame of the windshield headerstrip.
However most of the time the frame is covered up so you wont see it.
