Default Wiper dilema

This may sound like a silly question, but whats the deal with C4 replacement windshield wipers. I've looked for new wipers for my '89, but haven't been able to find any that "fit" at local parts houses. The problem is that most common brands are to "tall" to go underneath the cowl when they retract in the off position. Is there a special brand that is required? Is it a GM item only? Any clues on what to do or where to go would be appreciated.
Thanks again in advance guys,
Dan

The Trico Exact Fit wipers will do the job. I had trouble also, I found that Anco's and Michelin's were too tall and interfered with the hood closing. Very happy with the fit of the Tricos.

did tricos no prob, use one inch shorter on drivers side if you worry about them "crashing'. paying extra for bosch @ 13 bucks a waste. wipers on DDs need to be replaced a couple times a year anyway.

I had the same problem...I just kept my original blades and replaced the rubber..I found that advance auto still carried the generic rubber plus steel retainer....I kept my original blades and steel retainer and used the new rubber...I mean do we really need to change the blades every time we change wipers !!! Those 1 pc I beam wipers what a POS....I guess thats the price we have to pay for chinese manufacturing..
