GS white stripe !! worth it ?
A friend of mine is talking too much about making the white stripe on my car.
I'm not sure if it worth it for you guys if you were in my place or not ?
I don't want to paint the stripe , the car has its original paint.
Should I take it to stickers shop or buy stripe online ? I can't find it online though !!
Note : It used to have the stripe with previous owner (he removed it for some reason) except for the targa top. See avatar pic

I assume it is areal honest to goodness Grand Sport...
SO.... Personally I'd have it painted on.. like it was originally. These cars are "special" in my humble opinion...

If the car is really a GS, (the last 6 digits of the VIN start with 600001 and go to 601000) the original paint did include the white stripe that ran the length of the car. How did the stripe get removed? It sounds like the hood, rear deck, and the two bumper fascias were repainted. It would be very hard to simply remove the white paint by sanding.
The white paint for the stripe is GM Arctic White Paint Code 10 (WA9567) so that paint should be easy to find even where you are located. An auto paint supplier will be able to mix that color with no problem.
I think the Grand Sport Registry will have the exact dimensions of the wide white stripe and the small stripe on either side. IIRC, the wide stripe is not the same width from front to rear.
From looking at the GSR website, you may have to register to get technical information, but it might be a good idea to do so. And painting the stripe on the car will certainly add value to it, effectively bringing the car back to its original condition. After all there were only 1000 Grand Sports made in 1996 and there is a real following of the car on the GS Registry.

I assume the opposite. The badges are in the wrong place, there's no rear fender flares, it has the older gill panels and the panel between the fog lights and side markers is the wrong color. I'm guessing clone.

Could very well be a clone.

His sig mentions a '94. Admiral Blue was available in that year and used the older style gill panels. Although it's hard to tell from the pics, the rear wheels don't appear to have the deep offset in the hub that the 11" wide wheels had on the GS coupes.

If you like the look of the stripe, do it. If not, then leave it alone or remove the stripe from the top. It is your car, do what you like. It will not have any real effect on the value of the car. Make yourself happy.

I thought you had to remove the stripe some item back due to the local authorities harassing you for some reason?
If it were me, I would put it on. Who cares about a clone or not?

Personally I like the Admiral Blue without any stripes. I just think it looks better.
On real GS cars, they are a special car and I would keep them original, but given a choice if they made an LT4 in Admiral Blue without the stripes I would have preferred it.
