Default 1995 Key fob help, Please!

I need replacement key fobs for my 95. Where can I get them, besides the dealer. The Stealership wants 187.00 each.

I would greatly appreciate the help. Vendors want to chime in?

$130 is about the best you will find for a new one. eBay.

$130 is about the best you will find for a new one. eBay. Don't pay anyone to program the fob, instructions are in your owners manual.

While you are at it, you might want to make sure the problem is your fob, and go through the programming steps before you buy a new fob, and make sure that all seems to work.

Thanks ya'll.

Mark, I don't have the factory fob. The PO said it stopped working,so he took it off the keychain and lost it over the years. If I had the factory, it probably just needed a battery.
Thanks for the reply.

Suggest you do the test as I described before you spend the money on a fob

That and read about how the C4 PKE system actually works.
You may not like this system, since it is not like what most people expect.
You don't push the buttons on the FOB to lock/unlock the doors like most other cars.

So, before you spend quite a bit on a FOB make sure you understand what your getting.

I had working fobs for my '94's. I seldom used them.

To me they were a nuisance. When I would walk around the car like getting gas, they would lock and unlock the doors. When I was in the garage, they would lock and unlock the doors.

I usually left them in a drawer in the house and only used the keys.

I actually like the PKE on the C4. I thought it was the coolest thing when I bought my new 94. Thats why I want the fob for my 95.

See, this is exactly what I meant about reading up on how the system works.
There is no reason at all you should have put up with that.
Just stand next to the drivers door and hold the lock button in for a few seconds.
You'll hear the door locks cycle, and the PKE system will be turned off.
Then, you'll never be bothered by what you describe.

The only time I turn my PKE on, is if I am parking my car somewhere out of site.
In my garage, driveway, etc. it is never on.

Bree Miller
C4fob@yahoo.com

Bree designed/developed the PKE Fob. Usually has a few new ones lying around. Less than $100 Shipped. I bought one from her for my 95 about a month ago. Turns out I live about 5 minutes from her.

Tell her Jeff from Knoxville sent you.

Default Keep mine in a drawer.

I have both fobs. They work as they are supposed to. I never use them. Got tired of having to hear them lock and unlock the car in the garage or at the gas pump. The best system is on my F150 - touch pad on the door lets you leave the keys in the vehicle.

Another one who didn't read up on how the C4 PKE system works.

See my post above. You can turn the PKE off/on at will any time you want.

Thanks Rolla. Most people never read everything. They just skim it and go. I like the PKE, but I live in the middle of nowhere, I don't have to take my keys out to get gas. The only time I pull my keys if it is going to be out of site for awhile or at night.

I am not one who didn't read up. I knew exactly how it worked and I didn't like it. I knew that you can turn it off by pressing the button and I did that a few times, but it was a nuisance to use it like that.

I am new to the C4 Corvettes, although I had a friend that had a new leased 94 Corvette in 93. I remember him locking his keys in his car because someone rear-ended him and while he was waiting on the police the key fob kept making the horn honk, so he put the keys in the car and few minutes later the car locked the doors on him.

I am looking to buy a 94-96 Corvette is the key fob standard on these years or was it a option?

If he would have rocked the car the Fob would have "woke up" and it would have unlocked the doors.

By experience, the "FOB" rarely go bad. Try a new battery, or troubleshoot the PKE system.

How?

Instructions are in the FSM.

The rocking thr car trick works sometimes, but not always. I would never leave a PKE fob in the car. That's just asking for it.
