Default Need Help Changing Headlight Motor Gears

The right head light on my 86 coupe will not close. I am sure it is the gears in the motor. I want to put the bronze gears in. Does anyone have instruction with pictures to help me in this job. Thanks

Verify you have the 84-87 motors in your car before you start ordering parts.

I was ready to order the gears for my 85 and discovered a previous owner swapped out the motors for the later design. If the **** to open and close the lights are on the bottom of your motors, then you have the original design needing 2 gears. If the **** is on the top, then its the later design needing one gear and 3 bushings.

I did my left front headlight motor replacing the guts with one I found at the junkyard. Worked perfect. It's really simple. Nothing hard at all. If I can do it, you can do it. Just take pics if it helps you of what it looks like when you open the housing that way you can see how it all goes back together. And make sure you use some good sealant around the housing when putting it back together to keep the water out. Mines has worked perfect since.
