Default Classic insurance

any reviews on classic insurance policies for my 89 ?

I had Grundy, but they sold out to Philadelphia, without sending me notice. So I called Grundy, and they refused to talk about it what so ever. really strange.

So it's time to move on.

I agree.....I ahve them also. They make it easy to adjust the declared value if/when i need to. Pretty good mileage allowance too.

I am also happy with American Collectors, have used them for several different vehicles. Easy to work with, and reasonable pricing.

FWIW, if you have a long standing relationship with your regular ins comp, check and see what they have to offer. I have both my colloector cars on my Nationwide policy with an agreed value and all the same terms as the specialized companies. Costs me less than what I was quoted by the specialized companies too.. Ymmv..

I have applied with Heacock Classic. Rate is way better than what it was with my main vehicles at MetLife. Mileage is 6000 a year. Agreed value and 0 deductible, they do seem to want you to jump through a lot of hoops though. I haven't bought the policy yet. I think I might look NCM.

exactly what kind of Hoops?
... most collector car Ins companies have a standard set that we all have to meet...

I now use the Museum and used to use American collectors ..only changed because of the cost...I had some dealings with American collectors and had very satisfactory results very quickly .. Money talks that is the only reason I went with the Museum to insure all 6 of my Corvettes.

Grundy is back in the insurance game as a stand alone company. They were involved in some activity that temporarily caused their policies to be taken over by Philadelphia Indemnity, but whatever was the problem it ahs been resolved.

All's well in the universe again. Grundy is the best, esp when considering restrictions. And their rates are super competitive. Like their ads state, they want to see you driving the beasts.

Haggerty is the insurance the one I have. No restrictions the mileage you drive during the year. and agreed value coverage for a reasonable price.

It only takes a look on the web site or a phone call.

Depending on your state, Grundy sold out.

I currently have 3 policies with Heacock. I like the higher mileage offered and agreed value with 0 deductible. Also if you are working on a car you can call and up your value as you work on the car and they will make those changes to your policy as you go.

So you are saying they sold policies to another insurance company? They didn't inform the customers?

I checked them out but they wouldn't insure my GS for the same amount as grundy. I even provided an insurance appraisal

Bob G,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, been a little busy with minor heart surgery to fix a-fib. It just seemed like a lot of questions, pictures, more pictures, more questions, followed by e-mails their definition of a modified car. It did finally work out and I bought the policy from Heacock.

Kendra was able to help cut through some of the stuff over the phone.

I have had Haggerty Insurance for my 84 Vette & my 79 Z28 for quite a few years with no problems ...but I also haven't had any accidents.
I really like the agreed value and no mileage limit.

I have been on hold with grundy, for 40 minutes, waiting for a human representitive. It's the 3rd time I tried call today. Every wait was 1/2 hour before I had to hang up.

Once this policy expires, I will move on.

Have had Haggerty for 3 years. Never needed to use it yet. It's about 300 a year,
with no towing and a 12,000 value.
