Who took there c4 for a road trip and survived.
i'm always seeing road trip threads where unfortunatly , they always break down.just wanted to bring one out where we didn't. 700 mile weekend trip with our 84. average 22 miles to the gal. a/c worked flawlessly. r-12 converted to 134. awsome trip. kind of hot, west coast desert 102-113 degrees most of the time. GREAT TRIP GREAT CAR was thinking of selling before the trip,we may have just changed our minds

Look up PLRX road trips. Minor glitches, but got him there and home.
Not uncommon for me to rack up 500 plus in a day running the twisties in the NM high country. Marco never hiccups.

I drive mine to Memphis, TN for St. Jude's and to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY yearly. My car gets driven on a regular basis, which is the best thing you can do for your Vette (or any car).

Drove my old '94 from Atlanta to SW Florida for a 10 day trip. No problems what so ever other than the severe sunburn on forehead from driving all day with the top off. Haven't taken the GS on any type of trips like that, but would not hesitate for a second if I wasn't so afraid to park it unattended over night.

The wife and i took our '96 on vacation last year, 1,200 miles and not a single problem. We had the ac cranking and still managed 25 mpg. Not bad for a 16 year old car.

I bought my 1991 in Stockton, Ca. and drove it home to Seattle, Wa. in 2 days with no trouble, except for the 200 miles on snow and ice. Corvettes are not really snow cars. I bought the 1992 in Phoenix and drive it home in 2 days with no problems, also. There was no snow and ice on that trip.

Funny on the last three road trips I had two issues.
Both issues were poor designed Magnaflow issues.

I never had any issues with my C4 on roadtrips.
RollaMo takes his every year on the HRPT with no issues. Most people don't have issues but once in a while someone does have an issue, but so did that guy in the new Mustang I saw today on the side of road.

Moved from Oregon to South Carolina. A 2,717 mile journey with my brother as copilot. No problems whatsoever although ran into a lot of road work. 25-27 mpg. Washed and waxed every morn. The ultimate Bomber Run. Passed thru OH just to sit on B-70 landing gear.

Got my 94 a little over 3 yrs ago with 29K on the clock, and within 3 months the WP/Opti went out. After replacement I've had no major problems in the 15K miles since. Took it on the HRPT last year for 1950 miles, and this year to Bowling Green for another 1900 (with a little sightseeing along the way). Car ran great, comfortable and good mileage. On the HRPT that's when I found out that these cars are meant for the open road Going for little 50 to 200 mile cruises is fun, but getting them out on the road for several days (or weeks) is something every C4 owner should do when possible

Most of the last several years, Adm. Linda and I have driven my '87 to
from Morgan Hill, CA (just south of San Jose) to Tucson, AZ to see my
mom for Christmas. 818 miles one way which we do in a long day. We
leave about 5:30 am, get to Tucson about 6:30pm on a good trip. So
right at 12 hours with the time zone change. One time we did it with a
single stop in Indio (I'm amazed my bladder held out). We didn't do it
last year because I couldn't get new tires. We'll do it this year.

Didn't get over 100k miles on it sitting in the garage.
Probably the best "road trip" vehicle I've ever owned.

Just did a 1,000 mile round trip to Asheville NC this weekend to see a Drive by Truckers concert with my son in law and daughter. No problems 24.7 mpg. and more fun than a VW micro bus.

i've done several road trips in my c4's - my 85, akron ohio to SD, ohio, to bar harbor maine (2X), ohio to bowling green. my 90, ohio to florida - both 85 and 90, many trips to carlisle. my 96 - , ohio to toronto, ohio to florida and used for 3 months as my daily and only driver. in the last 16 years, my c4's have only let me down one time - fuel pump went out on my 85 about 75 miles from home.

I drove from Halifax Nova Scotia to Windsor Ontario 5 to 6 times in my 88 Vert. I had a bad tensioner and a torn soft top when i left and was no worse for wear when I made it home 20 hours or so later.

I live about 90 miles southwest of Chicago, my '85 has been to Atlanta 3 times, Bowling Green once and Memphis twice. I lost an alternator on one of the Atlanta trips. Now that I have jinxed myself I will post whatever it is that befalls me in the near future.
