Hey guys, just so you know as mentioned they have been lagging on me big time. However they should be starting soon I hope. I did get pricing looks like retail will be $2099-2199 in carbon, but forum price will be about $1350 or so. I know the mark was about $1500 so i'd like to keep it under that. With shipping it would be right at $1500 or so. Fiberglass will be about $950 or so, its still early but they will be very close to that pricing.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up, lol it's not dead, just SLOW!

Is there an estimated arrival time? 2 months, 6 months?

This is great news.
Do they have a final weight yet of the hood?

my suggestion is dont cheapen this up to cater to what you perceive might be 'stingy' c4 buyers.

Id rather pay an extra $500 (within reason) for the better hood.

Ex. you once talked about making a pure carbon fiber one.

Thats the one Im after vs. a fiberglass core.

Im still convinced that this kind of low-volume part must be made-to-order. (ie. you take money and an order-form - such that there is no question about what the buyer has ordered). You cant just guess what the market is going to be and make a dozen of these sitting around hoping the right buyer will eventually come around.

Buyers are very particular about what they want (ex. some hate high-rise hoods, others demand it, some want hood vents, others dont).

An example of made to order parts is ARH headers.

I have a set on order that they are currently making for me. I needed my wideband O2 bungs in a different position then what they show on their product sheet.

They told me this is no problem and they are building me a set with the wideband bungs in different positions.

For me, Id want a pure carbon fiber, lightweight stock-rise hood w/ hood vents (reference my post about how seeing over the hood of the low-slung c4 sports car is difficult on roller-coaster roads in SE ohio). A high rise hood makes that even more difficult.

I so have one more OEM hood. I just need to nail down a design. Keep in mins it has to be something the majority would agree on.

Right, and that includes a design that won't dump water all over the engine, electronics and hot exhaust.

So I just read through everything and saw there will be a 1" rise over stock..

Anyway, has a design(s) been decided on? If there was a stock looking hood with the 1" rise in the center, then I would more then likely be interested as I need to replace my hood and I am not sure I want/need it to have vents..

The vent can be designed to allow minimal water into the compartment. With that said, the vents on the outer ends of the hood would also be more practical. I'm more concerned with heat extraction, aerodynamic improvement rather than investing thousands into a hood for looks.

Track oriented owners, and "fair weather" owners might appreciate my idea. Not to mention, I'm in AZ, so rain is far and few between. lol

I guess the bada$$ hoods will have to be reserved for the c5/c6 guys....

A "diverter" can be added underneath the hood to channel water away from vital components! (Can be an addition for the buyers concerned with water exposure)

I'd be happy with large non functional Vents over the tire area on a Carbon Fiber hood!...

Sorry guys. Nothing new to report really. I think the molds are made but it will still be sometime before they make an actual hood. Kinda upset about it but nothing I can do. I asked about it today and they said they have been so backed up with other parts that anything new has to wait. Hopefully they'll get on it soon, I've heard they were expanding to speed up production but even that wouldn't guarantee anything in the next month or so. Be patient guys, I am staying on top of it even if I don't post all the time.

We also have another oem hood, what should we do with that one? Any ideas?
