C4 coupe weatherstrip
Just washed my 1995 C4 for the first time today. One week after purchase. Wouldn't you know it, it starts to rain. Got it in the garage before the first drops hit the ground.
I noticed a few very small leaks from the wash.
Where is a good place to start looking for a full weatherstrip kit for the entire car. It has never been replaced and it looks very bad in places. Also, I'd like to hear from those who have replaced their weatherstrip and have any hints to expedite and ease the replacement.

Few thoughts from the winter project . . .
Take some pictures of all old installations. I found I referred back to them more than once.
Be diligent and clean out the retainers. Some have used dental tools - I found that I could use various nails that I bent in the vise in order to custom make a suitable bend to clean the old w/s and glue out.
You will need adhesive remover.
On reinstall, I trial installed and once lined up used a paint pen to make some reference marks so when I glued them in I kind of knew where they needed to be aligned to.
Get a couple of rattle cans of black paint. Useful because the adhesive remover and your scraping away old stuff will remove the existing black paint.
If you go slowly and use care, you will probably be able to reuse all retainers.
Now that it's done, the leak up at the corner of the A pillar where it joins the targa top has stopped leaking. I am still chasing the leaks somewhere in the area or the side mirrors. At least my pants are dry in rain now. Just need to work on keeping the shoes dry.

The difference with weatherstripping is all the things that the cheap ones don't have. Metal retainers on the ends, a harder material on some parts where the retainers go. I have found a huge difference in the quality. I just did my door mains and I doubt they will hold up, but I bought them 7 years ago and just never did them. They are just foam rubber, nothing like the ones I took off..had to trim the ends so the door panels would sit right..looks like crap but for now it will have to do. I like the OEM GM stuff, very expensive but worth it...

When I do my weatherstriping at some point in the future I'll probably try Wilcox. I always hear some people recommending to stay with GM because it's better quality. As far as I can tell, the weatherstripping on my 91 is the absolute worst I've had on any factory car. I realize that it's now 21 years old, but the oem weatherstripping was trashed when I bought it 13 years ago. There's no way I'd replace it with GM. I'll gladly try aftermarket and save a few bucks while I'm at it.

Another vote for Wilcox. Got the 10% discount by entering "Ten Percent" in the code box and got additional discounts since I was buying it off the forum. Good Deal.

We do carry the weatherstrip in an aftermarket rubber style, which has proven to be very good. We also carry the latex style, which is a little bit softer and more like the original GM weatherstripping.

Mr. Wilcox Corvette- do you have the C4 - 84-89 full kits in stock now?
and are they CRC as the blogs and forum say? I am told we are buying CRC kits from you since you have the best price and are a big part of CF - please confirm.
Thank you!
