Three words: Fiamm Freeway Blasters. The horns on my 96 didn't work at all. Put these on and now I finally have horns!

My horn works fine but due to the mountain of a console I have the same problem with the passenger.

When you get them, make sure you use the cheap flat metal bracket arms they provide to connect them to the car. I read the directions and could not believe they would make any difference. I bench tested without the brackets and they did not work. Attached and put in vise to hold them for the test and they really worked! And worked better on the car.

I replaced my horns on my 96 Vette with horns from a 96 Cadillac Seville and I took the mounting brackets off my old horns and put them on caddy horns and they work fine, just don't drill through the caddy horn bracket, weld or have a friend spot weld the original corvette horn bracket to top of caddy horn in the right location and then cut off caddy horn bracket (with a dremmel tool or cut off wheel of some kind) that is left hanging over.. will try to attach some pics to show you what I mean... Hope it helps it worked for me, and I only paid $3.99 ea for horns from pick-n-pull, they also give 10% military discount.. I used a 11/64 bit to drill out old bracket
PS: also get the weatherproof plugin and as much of the wiring you need from the caddy and use it to test horns

Its possible only one of the horns is working---- each horn produces a separate note so if one isnt working they sound wimpy--- with patience you can get a defective horn working again-- they aren't super loud anyway----replace with GM or Ford horns is one solution

Very rarely do relays go out. If you replace a part and dont find out what caused the problem the part will go out again.

I know this is an old post & thread, but I used the penetrating oil technique described above and it worked great! Seems that the horn opening faces down and center, there was rust residue inside both of my horns. Definitely a great $$$ saver.

Great zombie thread. I saved the originals from my '96, thinking they might be repairable.

I can't wait to try this trick.
