To Mr Shakedown. I'm considering 315's on all 4 corners also. I was hoping you could tell me the specs of the rims you have on the front. Also how does that effect your turning radius? When you went to the larger tire/wheel combination did you have to get an alignment, or speedometer adjustment? Any info would help me out, thank you.

I wouldn't consider 315's in the front(even though it would look awesome) if you have bad roads in your area. Its bad enough tracking into ruts with 275&285'5

I got 4 ZR-1 rears from oewheelsllc out of Sarasota, FL (short driving distance for me). 17x11 with 50mm offset for my '96. I just did an autocross with a pin turnaround and I don't think I lost any turning radius. I certainly don't rub any in the front so nothing is stopping it from turning the same amount. I didn't get a new alignment but I already have an aggressive one, -1.5 camber front, 1/16th toe out, -1 camber in the rear, stock toe in. With the increased rear camber I do have some slight rubbing, although I can't tell if the 315's caused it or if it was left over from the 275/40/18's rubbing (I KNOW the 18's were rubbing). I also have a powerprogrammer so I can change rear wheel sizes at will. I didn't come from a stock size so I had to change my speedo. Should be pretty close to the 285/40/17 height.

I also find that it doesn't track any more on the road except my alignment isn't set for road crown so I get a slight pull to the right when on a heavily crowed road. I only seem to have it when on local roads as highways are wide enough and slight enough not to notice.

On my '92, I run GS rims all around. 315's fit in the back, no problem. Variances of tire width by manufacturer/model might make it rub a little. That will also depend on if you have lowered it. (They will still fit, but odds of rubbing the inside are higher.)

I have run 315's race tires on the front, mounted on 9.5" rims. They fits, and no loss in turning radius. (Why did it do this? -free tires, and didn't have two more 11" rims.)

As others have mentioned, check the offset. I seem to remember the 87's and earlier can run the actual ZR-1 offset without modification. '88-'96 need the 50-56mm offset

Always good to check the alignment with a new set of tires. (more so for us living with bad roads) A lot cheaper that burning up a set of tires.

The only problem I'm aware of is if you run large tires and drive a lot you need to get alignment or risk rear bering failure !

The cars were not designed for that much meat and of course it throws off alignment and causes stress on componets like bearings.

Me I don't drive much with them on !

Picked up a set of ZR-1 replicas. I'm gonna test fit mount them and tires should be on by the end of next week, so I can get some good pictures.

(Didn't get a picture of the rears)

I've been running 315's on the back of mine since '98 or '99, except for the one year when I ran Dunlops and had 335's on the rear. Never had a problem.

Yeah, I keep telling people I was designed to carry 11" meat...

Not everyone believes it....

But it is true...

Gotta wonder why people with later C4's would pic their 315's in this thread? (Lot's of replies here -- with little to do about 87 and earlier suspension.)

Rohn's is the only one with an earlier enough model year....but offset isn't listed. I'm guessing 36's or maybe spacers?

FWIW, I think the OP should consider his question hasn't been answered yet. Maybe you'll just have to mount them and see!

Ah, to the point then . . . It depends on the offset. If you use '88-'96 rims, you will need spacers, as offset for 87 and earlier is different.

'88-'96 - 56mm offset (a few were 50mm)
'84-'87 - 36-38mm offset

ZR-1 factory 11x17 - 38mm
