95 C4 rubber shift boot removal
Cheeeech!! This used to be easy on other models.
95 C4 ZF 6 speed.
Dismuzbedaplace to find a good answer.
Trying to remove the rubber shifter boot, the one located below the leather boot, - I removed the center console tray, shifter ****, leather shifter boot, then you come to four acorn nuts that appear to clamp the base of the boot to the shifter housing.
I removed the nuts and flange but try as I may I'm afraid something is going to break if I continue to pry up on the boot's perimeter - it almost seems like the boot is tucked below through the trans-tunnel.
Come-on now, they surely couldn't/wouldn't have designed this requiring to remove the tranny just to remove this boot for a linkage lube, would they? Linkage lube, if I remember the owners manual suggests doing this at 40K.
Certainly appreciate if anyone out there has done this and is willing to educate me on the procedure.
Thanks!
Roy

Look down to post #18 for pics and detailed explanation.
Maybe you should do a short-throw while you're at it!
I love my ZFDoc shifter!!!
