Looks like you have things figured out pretty good. You have a special relationship with your dad. The world could use more sons like yourself.

Wish my father was into cars when he was alive like your dad. You can't put a price on those times. Enjoy!

You're a lucky guy, my dad was always more into watching TV. At the age of 24, I loved cars as always and could tell you specs, HP, torque, prices, skidpad results, etc, but knew NOTHING about working on them. I didn't know what the alternator, radiator, catalytic converter, etc were. One day this guy sold me a messed up 1986 iroc for 1000$, but not knowing much about them never knew it was so messed up.

So using nothing but info on forums such as these, took me two years, I tore it apart, bought more tools than most people here have, fixed her, stripped, painted, tuned, interior work, welded etc using a self storage facility . Then I got a GMC truck I tuned to the *****, lifted, upgraded. Then 2 Saturns I transformed for racing, while helping other people with their cars.

So here I am, about 5 years later, 29, still not as good as most people on this forum, but further ahead than anyone I know, can replace ANYTHING and can easily diagnose problems.

But in the end, wish I could of learned much much sooner such as yourself. Wish I could of been around people who knew more than me, watch people build dragsters, build turbo systems, nos systems, superchargers, etc. But I'm now at a stage in life where I need to concentrate on more important things.

Having a dad that knows a lot and can teach you about something you're interested in is something you should never take for granted.
