Engine idle adjustment 91 vette
Greetings:
I have a 91 stock corvette, automatic transmission.
It idles at 750 to 800 rpm in gear with AC on.
Is this ok to drive it?
The manual says 400 rpm
I see a throttle idle adjustment screw, could I just turn it to the right
rpm? or do I need to disconnect some of the electrical stuff first?
The procedure in the haynes manual seems unclear & complex.
Should my mechanic do the adjustment? I dont know how to work on
corvettes, I do work on old harleys some, which is much simpler than corvettes.
Thanx in advance

Looks high for closed loop idle if it's an Auto L98. To see what it's doing, you'll need a Scanner which will also give you the Coolant Temp Signal which determines the Targeted number. Specs are an Actual Idle of +/- 50 rpms from Targeted Idle in Drive; +/- 100 rpms from Target in Park/Neutral. I'd guess that if Acutal is within range, Coolant Temp Signal is skewed or the tune has been changed or your Tach is off (which you can also check/verify on the Scan).
