Keep in mind that is a Favorite poll.
I'd pick the Mid Years as well. Good looks, state of the art chassis at the time, great power plants FI 327's, 396, 427's.
If I had to rank Corvettes, it would go like this from most favorite to least.
C2, C1, C4, C3, C6, C5
That being said, I still love them all. Why the latest and greatest last? Yes, they have AWESOME performance capabilities, but to me they lost some of the charm, the little idiosyncrasies, that make them charming. I drove a 59 C1 once, slow, braking scary, handing was interesting, but man wind in your hair, gentle burble from the 283 with power glide. Car has BOAT loads of character. Very fun and engaging to drive. I can imagine that in 59 the car being the bees knees but today it is down right ancient in terms of performance. Charm and heritage=intact. You just do not get that with newer Corvettes. However, fast and fun they are, at least I don't feel the charm and character to them.

Just about every time I take my LT4 out I get a compliment or a wave. Sometimes it's a little creepy as I'm not in the mood for a car conversation or people trying to buy it.
In general, if someone cares about cars they will appreciate a nice clean Corvette of any year.

And someone should poll the people taking the poll.......my guess is many have never owned a Vette and based their opinion on what they see on shows like Barrett Jackson....the mid years get all the glory. That being said I seriously considered a 66 Sting Ray... but settled on a 95 ZR-1 and didn't look back.

Stop at a gas station, wiping her off at a car wash, parked at a restaurant...people come up and pay complements. Many ask if it is new, or what year it is and their eyes often fly open wide when I tell them it is a 1990.
BAR NONE...The most C4 bashing I ever run into anywhere IS ON THIS FORUM. I suspect 99% comes from A-holes that never drove one, leave alone own one.
I loved my base 95 LT1/M6 and now the 90 Z, and if ya wanna visit vibrant celebration of the C4s, wander over to the GS or ZR-1 web pages!!

As an aside, why is it that everyone who admires the car ('92) always asks what year it is? When I had Porsches, no one ever asked that question.

Good ice breaker, usually the prelude to a compliment.
not often you see a real clean one most are pretty battered. These cars dont age well unless you keep them up.

The C2s are my favorite Corvette's ,I guess because its the one that was around when I was a kid and wanted a Corvette , the only thing stopping me from owning one is my lack of MONEY.......WW

Amen to that!
Would give my eye teeth for a 54 body/chassis (even a 57) and mod it to death.
Too bad they made those cars for midgets at 6'3 cant really fit in one.

IMO, the C2 will most likely always get the most votes in a poll such as this. The people who read these articles are typically older car guys who came from that era of Hot Rods and muscle cars with 396/427/327 power plants.
