Default antenna sticks

My 92 vette antenna rises fully but 'sticks' on the way down sometimes, and the lowest segment doesn't retracct most of the time.
Otherwise works great.
any suggestions?

Willing to bet you have a missing or broken tooth on the ribbon.

Unfortunately, the only way to know is to take it apart.

I thought you should not lubricate the antenna. Wipe it clean with some rubbing alcohol and keep it free from any build up to make it retract smooth. Any lubricant can cause build up of grime and cause it to clog.

You hear it both ways. I think the no no would be to use a dry lube, or something heavy. I don't think wiping the antenna off with wd40 would hurt, but that's just my opinion. I think the real solution would be to clean it one way or another when you service the car rather than waiting untill it's sticking or turning black. jmo

FSM recommends mineral spirits.
