Mileage, RPM etc.
Whelp.......on the way to Carolina to board up the house I learned a few things about a Vette. I've seen some of these questions asked and I now know the answers.
Mileage, an automatic 1995 Vette with 3.08 gears gets 23 MPG. That's mostly highway miles but a few small towns thrown in. The digital MPG gauge is dead-on accurate. Your results may vary.
When the trip odometer says 461 miles the tank is empty.......really empty and your car will stop along side the wooly swamp on a deserted stretch of road in North Carolina. I was just cruising down the road (Loving life and living that dream) and wasn't paying attention to the gas gauge. I had just stopped 20 miles ago and got a cold drink.
70 MPH is 2000 RPM with 3.08 gears and 295/35/18 tires.
With the top down and bright sun while wearing polarized sunglasses , the gas gauge is invisible.
Continental Extreme Contact DW tires are absolutely fantastic in the rain. While driving through a tropical downpour with water standing on the road the tires stayed really hooked up. They blow away the Firestone Firehawks that I had before this.
Two days before a Hurrycane hits,,,,the sky is blue, the ocean calm, humidity is high, and it's hot. I'm sure these conditions will change tomorrow and Saturday. I have found a hurricane party though. No worries.
All the porch furniture barely fits in the beach cottage. I've got chairs and cushions everywhere. 4 porches and about 6-8 places to sit on each. I am a man of leisure.
All the blue furniture does not belong here but if left on the porch they may turn into airplanes......and they ain't got no wings.
I almost had enough room to get into the kitchen and make me a breakfast sandwich.....just barely

Enjoy the road trip
Sounds like an honest assesment.
How some guys on here mysteriously get 20% better mileage figures than these cars are rated at are beyond me. Maybe GM missed something

I get right around the same results with my 4+3. I could get seriously better at 55-60 cuz that would put rpm's around 1700. I am amazed at the mileage of these cars and the C6's do even better. Folks look incredulous when you tell em the mileage and you can get some really crappy mileage when you hoss it around. Luckily those days are pretty much over for me. Just knowing it can do it is enough.
Gunny, dont know if you saw my Katrina pics in your road trip thread but I hope if the storm bulls eyes where you are at I hope you will get out of there. Dont take chances with your life.
Good luck either way!

I did that just for my pals here on the CF. It really was on purpose......honest.

I've been seeing the about the same numbers on my '95. Actually just a bit less as my right foot mysteriously gets heavy occasionly which then appears to affect my gas mileage.

I was in the AF and about all I knew how to do was keep a Chair safe , from rolling away with me under it I knew how to shoot a gun before the AF, but didnt learn much beyond that in the aF either What was I going to do with a gun in an office? Shoot mice ? Shoot paperwork? If the enemy got that close, we were in a huge bunch of trouble..
