Default Cam Shell Hood Weight?

Does anyone know the approximate weight of a mid 80's C4 cam shell hood. I need to know how many people I need to take it off and much whisky to buy.

Don't know the weight but I'd guess 4 guys, one at each corner would do it. That sounds like 3 bottles for all but you!

2 or 3. It can be lifted with two (It weighs somewhere between 60-80 IIRC).

The 3rd would be the guy releasing the last bolt (or two) if you want to make sure you don't crack it at the hinge point.

I believe from memory the C4 hood weighs 82 lbs or so, bare by itself

I spoke with a guy who has the molds from GM in St. Charles, Mo. nearby where I live......according to him, the C4 hood is the largest body panel on any American car built in history.....don't know if it is true, but has to be one of the largest for sure...it's part of the front fenders too really.....

I read it is 75 pounds. I call BS on that. me and a buddy pulled it off. It seemed a lot heavier then my 80 pound dog.

Doesn't matter. I answered his question about how many people to have on hand.

Posting a question like that demonstrates a gap in judgement.

Eh, it won't be the biggest mistake I ever made.

Thanks for the responces. Less than 100lbs, so people 3 minumum to lift and move. A fifth will do. Going to pull the engine and the hood will be in my way. Don't know where I will put it. I also think it was the largest single car exterior part ever made. Just starting a frame on restro. Engine first. Nothing special. Just want it to look new again before I get old.

Pretty sure those are only for racing. Probably don't have functioning headlights either.

No there have been fully functional CF hoods for C4s in the past, they save between 30-50lbs based on who you listen to.

I dont know if Toledo Pro still makes one, or who else does now.

Don't know the weight exactly but two people can get it off easily. Hell once I lifted one off with my 8 year old daughter and 4 year old son on the other side.

You can pull the engine out the side of the car without removing the hood.

Can't pull it from the side. Garage is only 15ft wide and the lift posts will be in the way. Besides the radiator is also coming out. Want to pull the engine and trans as one unit if I can. Is that possible since I will pull from the front? I would think so. This is my second engine pull. Last was a 350 from a 76 C3 back in 88'.
