Hi All,
Just thought I'd provide a little more info on this car as I ended up buying it for $3500.
The car was actually located in the Sierra Nevada mountain foothills, about 120 miles from San Francisco.
The Vette is actually an 1987 and not an 1988 as listed on craigslist.
The rims are American Racing and not BBS as stated in the ad.
The photos on craigslist don't do the car justice, the body, paint & interior are much nicer in person than shows in the photos.
The Vette shows 86K on the odometer and runs very well.
When I purchased the Vette, the hood would not open, I took a big chance and drove it 160 miles to my home, it made the trip just fine and I have since replaced the broken hood release cable.
Everything works except the power antenna and the A/C doesn't blow very cold.
It does need new tires, but I'm having a hard time finding the size it needs (P255/50Z X 16). Any suggestions where I can find these.

Congratulations DayDreamer. Good to see that the car has found a proper home. You do know that it is almost mandatory to post better pics now that you have it. I'll bet you are going to take good care of her.

Hi All,
Just an update on my Corvette purchase.
Well, my $3500 Corvette is not turning out to be the buy I thought it was.
Yesterday, I took it in for a California smog check. Turns out the "check engine soon" light was on and wouldn't go out.
It seems the prior owner had used black marking pen (or something like it) to hide that the warning light was on.
The smog station didn't have the time to diagnose the problem and I will have to bring it back in a couple of days.
Meanwhile, I decided to register it, turns out the 2012 registration sticker on the license plate was off another vehicle and back fees were due. It ended up costing $850 to get the car registered.
I should have realized something was amiss when they said they had misplaced the registration and would mail it to me.
You would think with all the vehicles I have bought in my lifetime I would have learned something ( I'm 64 years old).
Well, I guess it's never too late to learn another lesson the hard way.

Hi Pologreen 1,
I don't know what is so 'mysterious' about me purchasing the car and joining the forum?
I joined this great forum the evening I purchased the Corvette, the next day while going over previous posts I came across the post about the Craigslist ad for the Corvette I had just purchased.
My intent with keeping everyone updated was to share with members of this forum my experiences with a somewhat inexpensive 4th generation Corvette, whether those experiences are good or not so good.
I will be posting some photos shortly.

Do you play the lotto much?
There are other vette forums too, so the chances strike me.
i don't care either way, I just like pointing out the obvious that since it the Internet and a forum it could be other things happening here.
Enjoy the forum either way, or continue to enjoy the forum if you are not new.

Hi again Pologreen 1,
I'm sorry to hear that you think my posting is "very suspicious", I don't know what else to say other than what has been said in my posts.
I do enjoy the forums, very much so.
I would like to put the "mysterious" & "suspicious" behind us and both and continue enjoying this great forum, keeping our posts on a positive note.
