Default Is there a difference in interior room for a C4

Hey Guys

I am totally new to corvettes but I am looking to buy a C4. This might seem like a dumb question but I was wondering if there is more leg room or interior room between an older C4 or a newer C4. I've never sat in one yet but was curious if there is a difference. I'm a big guy 6'3" 295 lbs.and I'm wondering if I will be like a sardine in a can. I've heard people say how hard they are to get in and out of.

Thanks

Yes.

Try one of each and decide. An upholstery shop can do things with the seats to give you a little more room.

Youd probably want the later model standard seats they are a little more roomy.
Could even put C5 seats in if you had to.

Definitely try to get in and out of one before you commit.

Remove the whole interior and sit on a box then you will have a very spacious interior

the newest ones 94-96 have a little more foot room and the sport seat option is a big improvement, even for skinny people.

the passenger side is still super tight though.

Friend of mine, which has a 2010, sat in my 88 convertible and had a real hard time. He is 6'1" weighing about 290 and has size 13 feet. He said his feet were prob the biggest issue.

He was looking to buy a C4 to restore and after sitting in mine, changed his mind.

I'm 6' and weighed 250 lbs last fall. Getting in and out of this car was problematic then. I love the car so much, I vowed to lose the weight so I could enjoy the car. Now, at 210, I can.

If you have big feet a standard shift = less foot room. If I wear something like Nike's I will sometimes apply a bit of throttle while braking & will have to get my left foot under the clutch pedal to get it on the left side foot rest.

Cannot advise on seats other than say that the 89 base seats were roomier and the car was easier to get in and out of than the 90 with sport seats. My skinny butt fits ok in either.

The C5 was the easiest of my Vettes for entry & exit + it had the most cockpit room. In fact the large cockpit was one of my dislikes about the C5. Felt like I needed a 5 point harness to keep me in the large seat.

I know Michael Jordan, back in his heyday, had a ZR-1. He's 6'6". However, I think I saw his car for sale on ebay or something, and the seller said it had custom seat frames to make the seats lower.

I am 6', 205lbs with size 12 shoes. It is a tight squeeze, but comfortable once you're in it. I find the seats very supportive. I like the fact that it doesn't have much room-it feels like a sports car. The newer vettes have more room, but they feel like sitting on a normal car...just one with 400-500 horsepower.

Wow thanks guys for the replies. I guess the only way is to find one for sale and try out the fit. Hopefully I can compare a C4 against a C5. I've always wanted a C4 and so hopefully it won't be too bad. Maybe they make a big shoe horn to help.

I'm 6'1" and about 230 lbs. NOT FAT!!!! But I am bigger guy. I have no problem at all being comfortable in my 85 and have no problems getting in or out. Anyone weighing 290 lbs. with size 13 feet needs a truck, not a car.

I am 6' and 165 lbs. and fit nicely into a 95 coupe.
At 6' 3" and 295 i think you should be looking C5.

My 89 has the telescoping steering column. It lets you put the seat all the way back and still find a comfortable driving position. With out it you'll always find yourself leaning forward instead of back to reach the steering wheel. I'm 6'0" 185 lbs.

Foot room is the biggest difference and not so much by model year as it is A-4 vs. Sp. I bought my 95 as an A4 and didn't think much about foot well issues, then the 96 Lt-4 came out and I traded my 95 in on the car I currently have. I must say that the lack of foot room and closeness of the 3 pedals vs. the 2 for the auto was almost a deal breaker. I went ahead and got the LT-4 (glad I did) but it was never going to be a daily driver. I could not stand it as a daily driver. Other than the closeness of the pedals room isn't an issue for the wife and my self. We have taken the car out for as many as 8 days along the coast and have learned to fold out clothes to fit any and all available space, Suit cases in a vert cheat you out of too much room.
Since I still have the car I guess I feel it is worth any lack of space issues.

If your a large person, you dont drive a C4 you wear it. I am 6'1" and 230 and have standard seats in my 85. I also have the solid roof which takes up a little more headroom than an acrylic. I have to slouch a little bit in the seat to not bang my head if I go over a big bump.

The car was definitely designed for smaller people but I love to drive mine. I dont hesitate to take it on road trips of 500 miles either. Good luck with your search, hope you find a nice C4 to put in the stable.

I've known some really big guys who find the C4 interior comfortable, and some who say they just don't fit in them at all. The only way to find out is to try one on for size. And, as has been noted by others already, don't assume that they'll all feel the same. Different seats and pedal arrangements can make a big difference.

Live well,

Try the C4 and then try a C5 or a C5 Z06. You will find the C5s have more interior space and are easier to get in and out of. I have a 1992 C4 and a 2002 Z06. They are both very nice to drive and are very different from each other.

Hey Guys
Thanks for all the responses. I guess now I have to try to find a C4 and a C5 around here and try them both out.

Another question between the LT1 and the LS1 is there much difference in motors? Is one better than the other? How about speed and torque. I know this is a loaded question but just wanted some opinions. You guys are very helpful and I appreciate it.
Thanks

I'm 6'4" and I'm at the same crossroads. I could get a nice '91 for what's in my pocket, but then have to put $ into some corbeau seats to keep my head from hitting the roof- Then I guarantee you I wouldn't be happy until I had a LS1 engine in it. I did sit in a '99 a while back and I have one thing to say:
Don't sit in a C5 unless you are ready to shell out the cash. If you sit in one, you'll buy it. Especially if you drive it.
