Well, if all goes right, I'll head for SoCal for PLRX's Bomber Run in April or May. I'll drop you a note....I'd love to see (and maybe get a ride in) the car.

Quick little story,I'm stopped at a light, a police car pulls up in the left turn lane... I keep looking straight ahead, he keeps looking over at the car perplexed... A few seconds later the passenger window opens about 4 inches, it seemed he was looking for the rumble... LOL

I motored away... I'm actually waiting to get pulled over for the smog spot checks they pull out here...

Hey Mo Brandy,

Excellent planning and execution.

As soon as technology catches up with better batteries, electric cars will be very popular and you will be known as one of the pioneers.

Have a question. Tell me about your elec power steering. Is it variable pressure to I can have more pressure when trying to squeeze into a tight parking slot, and less pressure at freeway speeds?

Where did you buy the pump and how much $$ do they cost?

Hey Dsagers,

Thank you!

Yes I'm actually looking at headways or lithiums as we speak. To dramatically increase my range.

The electric power power steering is actually from a MR2 , you can purchase them online from EV Source in Logan Utah.

http://www.evsource.com/tls_steering.php

It is about $920 but it is a turn key solution... They make it to run off 12v. However you need to be sure you get the correct fittings from the pump to your power steering hoses. I'm not sure if they handle them or not, but I picked mine up at Summit Racing...

It has the capability to only run while in a turn, but the power draw even on a fully electric car is minimal like 25 amps when straight and a max of about 50 amps @ 12 volts so I really didn't bother with the extra work. There are proximity switches you could attach to the steering box, but my feeling was it really would not save all all that much.

To answer your question the pump does not work as hard in a straight line as it does pulling into a parking space. The feel is really good as well.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Very nice. And it doesn't have to look like a Prius.
Looks like a well planned and well built project.

Thank you Racer 1993,

I actually met with a possible lithium battery sponsor this past Tuesday, it looks really good for getting a 200Ah battery pack, this should get me around 95 miles of range.

I will keep everyone posted as this moves forward.

Hey Bosco,

Thank you!

Funny you should ask.

I'm actually negotiating with a sponsor as we speak, he flew out from Tenn to look and ride in the car, they are running some tests on some of their 200Ah lithiums. Which should extend my range to about 90-100 miles.

I should hear more after the 8th of May.

Best regards,
MO

Default New Lithium Ion Batteries

Hi Folks,
I just picked up 9 of a total of 18 GBS 200Ah lithium Ion batteries.

I will post pictures once I have some more time.

The new range is expected to be over 100 miles and a bout 325 HP.

Regards,

Mo
