How to Hard Wire Radar Detector into Mirror
I was able to hard wire my Escort Passport 8500 radar detector into my rear view mirror similar to how the C5 / C6 Invisacords work.
First, use a multimeter to determine which pin is power and which is ground on the stock cord that plugs into your cigarette lighter. Then buy a phone cord and cut the end off of it and use this information to determine which wire is power and which is ground. It will most likely be the two center wires.
Disassemble your mirror and solder the power and ground wires into the mirror. Inside the mirror, blue will be ground and yellow will be power.
Put the mirror back together and enjoy!
A big thanks to resident CF member Powerlabs for his help with this install. I was not that knowledgeable on using a multimeter, so his help made it a quick and easy 30 min install.

Your yellow power wire on the mirror; is that switched on with the ign. or always hot?

Great and easy mod! Nice work.
I made a U-shaped clamp to clamp slide over the lip of my dash and then ran a power wire to the cig-lighter down under the lip of the dash behind the bezel turned out great.
