Default C4 / C5 pending Purchase

1996 LT4 CE with 110,0000 for $12,000

Or

2000 C5 coupe with 84,000 for $16,000

Both cars in very good shape. All original , clean car fax, no hack mods, original paint.

Interior on 2000 is better than 1996 but would not take much to make perfect.

Any comments. Thanks in advance

C5

But with either car, can you do your own wrenching? (or at least most of it?)

LT4; I think C4s are prettier.

What do you want out of the car?

Restore project. Been. Watching overhauling too much. And drive to work 2 days a week . 10 miles one way. A play toy. Had set my budget on 10-12,000 since I was that the 1992-1996 were fairly inexpensive.

Had a brand new 2003 Z06, buy never drove enough to let $50,000 sit in the garage.

Also the C4 CE has F45, so the $800 shocks scares me a bit

The C5 was a big step forward IMO, it would be my choice of the two without a doubt.

This. I had a chance at a '99 but took my '89.

Too bad you want a restoration project. I've got a gorgeous 66K mile Polo Green '95 that could be in your garage in 8 hours. And it wouldn't cost you near that much.

My advice would be to drive both. The C4 and C5 drive like two totally different cars. Drive them both and see which one suits you best.

Both are about 30+% above market, and that would be if perfect. There are a lot of cars out there that are not selling. Cash talks in this economy, take your time and get the exact car you want, and there is no reason you can't find perfect at market price. Prices are set to really drop in a few weeks in most cold locations.

The lt4 is overpriced with those miles, the c5 is priced good. I'd take the c5 if it wasn't a coupe. The coupes design never caught my eye, now a frc or zo6 is a diff. story.

The C4 is too much money. You would pay that for a 50,000 mike car, not a 110,000 mile car. That being said,mi would choose a LT4 F45 over the C5, probably.

Yes. I'll be putting it in the for sale section soon. Too many toys, too little time.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I passed on both of these and bough this morning a 1994 F07 with 48,000. And in my mind in perfect condition. Also has FX3, which maybe is a part of the F07, I don't know. Dark Red with Tan. Will post pic when I get them. Oh, and staying right on budget, $12,000
