1996 LT4 with 1999 Wagon Wheels
A neighbor sold me a near perfect set of 1999 wagon wheels. I am putting them on my LT4, which is white with red interior, and believe matching the wheel color with the body would look great. However, it is $600 to have them powder coated and there is no guarantee they will match the white exterior. Has anyone painted a set of wheels or would you recommend they be left silver? Your thoughts and suggestions please.

Powder coat them.....
Have them coated in a bright white. Should match fine.
Powder coating holds up very well.
Mine were done in 1995, and the coating is still perfect.
Just a pain in the A$$ to keep clean.....

Here is a white C4 with white wheels......
They are not wagon wheels, but you get the idea.

I think the white on white looks nice, but $600 is pretty steep, plus the price you paid for the wheels. Myabe I'd drive aorund on them in silver for a while and see what how I liked them, then later if you decide to go white you will be sure.

The wagon wheels look better on C4's than they did on C5's. It's up to you how much money you want to sink into them, but powder coating is the better option.

There's a reason wagon wheels are cheap (usually about $100/set,and not selling). Sorry, I just can't see going from the beautiful collector edition wheels that just seem so right on a collector edition to something most people throw away as soon as they buy a 97-99 vette. Hell, the scrap dealers make you put them in a bag before they'll take them. Expect a lot of "that's interesting" comments on your car.

The wheels on my base model Coupe are the stock "saw blades". I like the idea of having 18" "boots" on the back and 17"s on the front. Several C4's we have seen look great with that combination. In any event my decision is go with the stock silver and, if I get a wild hair, powder coat them later. Might even do a chrome powder coat. It looks almost like the real thing, but is easier to take care of. Thanks for the help.

Honestly, I think Chevrolet did a horrible job with the c5 'wagon wheels.' Out of any wheels I've seen on a vette I think i dislike those the worst. I really like the sawblades on c4's. Fits the body of the car very nicely. I'd keep the stock wheels on or get some c4 zr1 wheels. Not a big fan of the white wheels but your car. Do what makes you happy. But as said above, you're going to get a lot of opinions with the post. Good and Bad, but opinions nonetheless

I don't run the wagon wheels but I have a set of AFS A-Molds that are painted white. Cost me a whole case of Corona I use them strictly as track/autocross wheels but they have held up great since they were painted in 2007. Lots of tires on and off of them and the paint is still holding up great. I liked the white after seeing them on a friend Hanks 92 then on Rik's 93 at the NCM so I figured I'd borrow the idea LOL

Interesting in that I did purchase a 98 Vette new in 1998 and hated the wagon wheels that I replaced them with 2000 wheels the same week I saw my first 2000 Corvette....
I hated them... BUT I too have seen a few C4's with them on and for some reason I like them quite a lot on the C4....
Last December I picked up a 88 ANC with white wheels and to be honest I really like them on that car...maybe that is why I always liked the 88 ANC ...
