C4 from garage queen to DD
I have had my 95 for over 1 and a half years now.I have fixed everything except the bright light switch.Car is a 9 inside and out,75K miles.
I have enjoyed driving it so much I have decided to drive the heck out of it and enjoy it instead of letting it sit in the garage.I have put 3K on it in a year and a half. Now that gas prices are up I will save money driving the vette.Even if I put 50K on it over the next 5 or 6 years it will only be worth a few K less than it is now.
Than maybe I can get a C6 in 5 or 6 years.

Good for you! Mine is a show car and a daily driver Its just a pain to keep it that way, especially when you have retarded college kids who dont respect peoples property! After a few thousand miles you will realize what a good choice you just made! Nothing like driving the Vette every day/everywhere

We need a new club as I was a show guy not long ago with cars that had less than 1,000 miles on them. I now have a lower mileage car (less than 20,000) and another one on the way, if the weather ever breaks. I can say that I love driving and enjoying the car much better than just sitting looking at it, with my other cars I was afraid to do anything with them. Life's too short to not drive and enjoy them...

My vette
Never a garage queen.
Bought new in 1989. 22 years ago this month.
$38k out the door.
250,000+ miles.
Worth now? $2000 if lucky.
Money well spent. Raised my kids in it.

Great move!
Great move! Life is finite and no one knows when it will end. Corvettes are meant to be driven and it makes sense for you to enjoy it as much as you desire. Life's experiences cannot be saved for at a later time. As you said, getting a C5 or C6 is a possibility in your future if you desire although it is hard to let go of these special C4's. They have a unique driving personality that delivers a memorable driving experience that cannot be duplicated by any other car, even the more advanced C5 of C6 models.
Best of luck,
John

I am working on my sled getting it into DD condition. Most of my commute to work is at 55 or higher speeds so that 24-25 mpg looks good. Ive decided not to spend a bunch on mods either to keep the mpg's up there.

Inviting any of it's friends ?
I wish I was a little closer, I'd be there that's for sure.
Mike, as we all have discovered, it's not the initial cost of the vehicle it's what it costs to keep it going after all this time. There may be a resale value of $2000. on your car but to you, and us, it's priceless. Your repair's and related pics help a lot of members here, consider the car a "work in progress."
My '93 had 260+ K on the ODO when I sold it in July, I bought it new June '93 with 8 miles on the ODO, $28,500.00 OUT THE DOOR. The very next day I got the '92, it had 36 K on it's ODO and I expect it will have over 250 K before I even consider selling it. In about a year or so I'm going to start looking for another C-4 to keep it company.

Take the targa roof off and run a cargo strap under the side doors, next tie the rear of the ladders to the spare tire hold up bolt. Lots of room for tools behind the seats. Now, no reason not to drive your car to work.

Driving them keeps them working...
Bought mine (94 Coupe - LT1) a few years ago - cost about 9K - 90K miles on the odometer - had a few issues, of course.
I have been putting 20-30K per year on it ever since (currently, about 145K on the odometer). The first year was the shake down year - and spent about $4,000 replacing all sorts of stuff (some were upgrades, e.g. corsa exhaust so I could hear myself think).
Since then, it costs the same to maintain annually as my daughter's toyota - with about the same MPG. Not a lot of issues. I take it pretty easy, but drive it a lot. I sincerely think that regular driving keeps it in good shap.
So I figure, for about $13K, I've got a daily driver that is an honest 160MPH automobile getting about 27MPG...
What's not to like about that?
