Default Car rolled away DAMN IT!

OK, So Me and the wife took out the 96 CE Vert for a last ride and went out to dinner. When we came back to our friends house, I ran in to hit the head . My wife says start the vette so it will be warm, currently 26 degrees out. I look out the window and the vette is gone. I could not believe it, I thought it was stolen. Ran outside and I see it rolled off the driveway into the woods. I run over it is in a bush, back it out, thinking the nose is gone and find out it just missed a tree in front and on the drivers side of the car. Holy crap talk about luck. I pull into the Hess station and look for damage none! When I get home I look and there are a few marks on the clear that I notice but they came out with a little Ice clay bar. I CANT BELIEVE IT. The reason it all happened was I took it out of gear to start, thinking the brake was pulled and it was not....... Thank God!

That's ine lucky event dude, when I was younger, my father was watching me and my sister and working on the blazer and it ended up rolling down the driveway across the street into the neighbors fence, no damage to the car, just that darn fence

And if it didn't roll when you got out, what set it in motion?

I think when I got out that may have started the momentum. Never felt a thing though, plus I had to hit the head bad.

I would have thought the brake light on the dash not illuminated might have given you a clue. Pretty hard to miss that.

The day I bought my vette, and was driving it back, I stopped at a hotel. I had been awake for 30 hours or so I guess. I was unloaded some stuff and going back and forth to the hotel.

I was just getting settled in when I realized I left my phone in the car. So I go to retrieve it. I noticed that the car was in neutral. The way the parking brake worked was unique to me, and I guess I just thought I had set it. Well I had not. Nothing bad happened and the car was still sitting in the same spot.

I haven't made the mistake since!
