Great input. A lot of nice looking cars you guys have. They do look great with the top down. I may lean that way.

That's what I like to hear. I do the same.

I love the convertible experience! Right now I've got my 40th vert, 62 Continental, and 76 Eldo. My dad has a 49 American LaFrance firetruck which is topless, although I believe there were some kinds of tops available. My uncle has a 74 Eldo too.

I agree with 92ragtop. Find a vert and take it for a drive. When you're done, take a step back and look at it & you will see why so many of us feel that the C4 convertible is the most beautiful car that has ever come out of Detroit. If you end up getting one, get a hardtop and you can take the ragtop completely out giving you a surprisingly large storage capability. Get the 'vert.

But then he runs the risk of getting caught out in the rain unless everytime he drives without a top he puts the soft top back in. I'm sure a lot of people have caught some rain vert or removable top(s) at some point though, I know I have.

You could also remove your wipers as well

Not a Corvette (as in body but it has a Vette motor) but it's a convertible nonetheless. I wouldn't have it any other way honestly. I never put the top up when I'm cruisin' but I'll say this, the T/A and the Vette don't go out unless it is less then perfect out anyway. That said, for year round driving or in less then idea weather conditions, I don't think a convertible would be my first choice or a DD.

Ummm, fellas, you ought to actually look at what he said:

With a hardtop on, there's no need for a ragtop.

Vert only. Keep on vettin

I wouldn't have bought my '88 if it hadn't been a convertible.

I'd love to find a older C4 vert in that color. That shade of blue (with the blue interior) was my favorite color for the '88. I've got a strong feeling my next C4 will be a convertible. Thanks for sharing the pics everyone.

I enjoy my '86 convertible. I run top down at SCCA and NCCC autocrosses with no requirement for a roll bar (I do run in stock class).

Biggest problem with the convertible is poor storage area access and limited storage volume. I have to give a thumbs up to C5s and C6s in this area.

Very clean but front wheels are on the wrong sides.

I would not trade my vert for a coupe if I could only keep one. But I would not mind having both. I love the sound of the eliminators with the top down.

I have had both. I had an '89 targa and have an '89 vert. Storage space is the only real issue. The vert rattles less and has more structure in the frame. I did not like dealing with the bolts to take the targa off. I am really happy with the vert. The coupe had an auto transmission and the vert is a ZF6. Totally different discussion, but overall, the vert is a helluva lot more fun.

I like having a solid roof on cars with any significant hp level.

two exceptions: my old jeep which had a roll bar and a hose out interior, and old MG's. I guess living in San Diego Co. kind of make nice weather days nothing special.

Let me guess....you own a garage queen, right?

I've never owned one, but I've driven a few convertibles as my company ride for extended periods. No thanks.

Summer nights with the top down here are fantastic....fall is nice too....but other than that, it's too hot in the summer during the day, too cold in the winter, and too windy in the spring. I can see where owning a vert would be fun at times....but overall, I think it would get old fast.
