Recoverd sun-visors
Like a lot of older Vettes with weatherstrip problems, my car had deteriorated sun-visors. I looked around the usual places and didn't really find anything that really caught my attention. Most of the used ones weren't in very good shape, and most of the new ones were higher priced than I liked to see.
So, I stripped the originals down to the hardware and started over. I used the old parts to trace out new parts. After a lot of cutting, glueing, and swearing, I have the driver's side ready to stitch together.
I took the fabric to a local embroidery shop and got some stitching done. I think they are going to turn out pretty good.

Nice job!!
I did about the same when I had new seat covers made for my 85. I cut some masonite to make the visor shorter and eliminated the floppy piece on the outside end. Then had the visors covered in the same material as the seats and center console door so everything matched.
I also found a sports shop that did embroidery. They had the ability to scan so I took them a file with Corvette in the official GM font rather than use a generic font. Had them stitch the head rest of the seat covers. Looked really nice.

On a side note, does anyone have a pic that shows which way the bend in the mounting rod goes? I'm not positive which mounting rod goes on which side.

****UPDATE****
Beautiful hand stitching.
Ready to rock-n-roll.
High-maintenance passenger beauty illuminator/reflector.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. Sure beats the heck out of $150-$200 for a half-way decent set.

Awesome, very nice "pick me up" for the vette interior.
I think I will call the local embroidery shop and have a set done in Black Leather to match my seats.
Thanks for the post with great pics!

If you fold it down it will slide off the end. The visor has a flat spring that aligns with a notch on the support bar. When you fold it down, the spring releases from the notch allowing it to slide off.
Thanks. Mine not only had floppy ear, they had jungle rot on the top.
