If we're talking daily drivers than the mustange might start to look more appealing.

If the Corvette is a weekender, then no comparison. Give it a couple of years and you'll be able to pick up a 2010 mustang for pretty cheap. There are so many out there I don't think I'd buy a new one unless I just didn't care about the depreciation hit.

When you see what buyers are going to offer you for your 96 , you may have second thoughts. This is not a good time to sell any C4; Unless your willing to take your lumps. If your one of those "I got to have it" guys then it wont matter. You will give your C4 away like so many thousands of others have just to get your new ride. As far as the new Mustang its a nice looking car. But its just a car. I Cant say that about any Corvette ever built since 1953.

For a Mustang? Really? Say goodbye to people complimenting your car and good luck finding it in the parking lots among the dozens of other ones.

It was the 03 with the smaller lm4 motor even with the bigger motor it is still slow due to the weight....

Had my '95 C4 for 14 years. Sold it and bought an '04 C5 with 15,000 miles on it in mint condition. Divorce deal couldn't resist. Do I miss my C4? Not really. There is no comparison between the C4 and the C5. But don't get me wrong. I had an unbelievable 14 years with that car.

From what I read the C5 is more civilized. Its more of a everyday car. Personally I love the rear end so many seem to hate. But a lot of that exciting FEELING you get sitting in the C4 is missing in the C5 IMO. Maybe the C5 replaces that with performance I dont know. But to me feel means a lot. So I will probably just keep rebuilding the C4 which is dumb from a money point of view because after spending thousands I will still (based on the current market) only be able to get a $5,000 offer reguardless of what I put into it. That is the sad story we all face right now as C4 owneres.

I don't think it's "sad". It's the car I like; looks great, drives great, runs great. I enjoy keeping it in top condition. It's never been a "growth" financial investment.

It looks like I'd regret selling it so I'll be keeping it. I would miss those long summer drives with the top off. Thanks to everyone for the responses.

Quite frankly, I would invest in a driving course. Skip Barber is at Mid-Ohio. A little bit of car control will help you avoid the next unnecessary skid.

Default Yes you will!

Yes...I think you will regret selling your vette. After all...it's a Corvette, the only American Iconic muscle car. Mustangs after all....are just a Mustang. If you were asking us should I sell my Corvette because I want a Rousch 427 or a Shelby? You'd have an argument there. But to sell a one of a kind American made muscle car for a V-6? No way.

Just by thinking you may regret selling it,you already are remorsefull. Keep it!! its a beautifull car. Also that extra 5HP ya wanna buy will set ya back another 15 Grand!!! after ya sell the C4. Is 5HP worth 15G?

I sold my '94 convertible 5 years ago and regret it to this day. I've replaced it with a '95 but I still miss my '94. Give it some serious thought. Whatever you buy to replace it will become "just another car" in a short while and never be as nice as your Corvette. "Bin there. done that!" and have always regretted it.

Good luck in your decision!!

Default sell?

One of my biggest regrets in life are the cars I have sold;39 Olds,68 El Camino, etc. Had a 75 Vette with 20,000 miles. Now have a 96 and will have it driven in front of my hearse, then my kids can fight over it.

The Skip Barber school would be helpful but not necessary. I’ve been driving for 27 years now and the incident with my Vette was the first time in those 27 years that I’ve lost control of a car. I’ve had the Vette sideways several times before without a problem. Most people who would’ve been in the same situation that I was in would have totaled the car so $400 in scratches isn’t that bad.
