Can someone shed some info on why so many Vettes get sold...

Safety Car
The grass is always greener on the other side and with autotrader, forums, and Craigslist, I'm always on the lookout for the next toy. Sometimes my cars are for sale from day one.
right now I have three car wishes
C4 ZR-1
12 year old 911 Porsche
A Viper
Listed in order of price, more or less.

Think of life and how people are, multiply by 10 and there you go. I can't actually add to anything that has been said.
There are many reasons I would guess.

I agree with all the previous. For a lot of people it's "something I've always wanted," but even if they like it a lot all too soon they realize it isn't the life-changer they hoped for. Also, toys are necessarily expendable in this economy.
If you think a lot of Vettes are on the market just look at the number of Harleys and (especially) boats. At least the car can be sold at some price point, but boats can hardly be given away right now.

Got bored with mine. Liked em and wanted to do so much modding wise but new Id never be happy and pass smog..that and finance problems so they all got dumped. Maybe down the road if I had a few bucks may consider one as a cruiser and leave it stock but if would have to be pretty damn nice and sound, I hate working on those things and truth is with a C4 you WILL be working on them lol . Fun to drive though.
If so, what are the common issues? I know some injector and electronic issues are always popular, anything else common?

Too expensive to maintain and/or purchasing a new one, the payments are to high as well as insurance costs, not to mention we are all trying to get out of this recession that Bush got us in. I had mine since 2001. I want a Z06 now and I am single with a son. Many guys are married and just can't afford it anymore or at all. There are numerous personal reasons as to why they are sold a lot.

Possibly, to much tinkering by people who are NOT mechanics and end up screwing the electronics and/or the engine components then sell it to the next guy who things he bought a good car and hates it then sells it to someone else and on and on.

Lets face it guys, this is Hot Roding. Wether it be a Corvette or an Mustang they are old. They will need repairs. It will not be cheap. They are toys and people will play with them and or screw them up then go on to the next one.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a Vette will be kept on the road, or on life support, long after a different car with the same age and problems would have been sent to the junk yard.
I don't see anyone trying to resurrect a Citation from the dead, but people will do it for a Vette without batting an eye.
Couple this with the casual buyer who simply does not have the skills, knowledge, tools, or money to resurrect the beast and got taken in by the clean lines, only to find that she just isn't that easy to please.
Wow, that almost sounds like that Cat from the previous posts...

I think, in general, people buy cars like the Vette because they've always wanted one and after several years of depreciation they become attainable. Or, at least initially. What some fail to realize is this $10k vette used to be a $ 40k sports car back in the day and it requires sports car maintenance. A lot of buyers probably strech their "toy" budget to aquire the car and then quickly realize after a couple years that there is much more to owning one that the initial purchase. Repairs, maintenance, and mods can easily equal the purchase price. So, people bail when they realize this. I know of guys who do this all the time.
