Nothing wrong at all with owning a C4. I had four of them and liked each one. You know how this car has been maintained which counts for a lot. While it's not a C5 in terms of comfort and styling, it's still a nice car. If you feel comfortable with the deal, go for it.

Not sure if I would trade ur C5 for the C4 pictured. I would put a new engine in yours. But if you can't effort the cost then do what you need to do. However I would trade my C5 for a C4 ZR1 in a heartbeat.

I have driven dad's C5 all the time and I would pick my C4 every time. I like the look and feel of a C4 more then a C5. I have not driven a C6 so I can't say anothing on that note.
There are ways to make a C4 handle like if not better then a C5. But, the thing is that it boils down to this saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

One thing is for sure, the sport seats in the C4 are WAY better than any C5 or C6 seat. They did not complain about lack of lateral support with the adjustable "wings" on the side of the sport seats. Go to caranddriver.com look up new ZR1 then find the old ZR1 road test in the archives and see what they say about the seats.
I'm not going to sit here and say the C4 is better than the C5 or C6. The C4 has a different character than the C5 or C6 for sure. I like the C4's character better. I feel more involved and the car feels more alive. I just never really got that anytime I drove a C5 or C6.
Just like the C4 is better than the C3, the C5 is better than the C4, and the C6 is better than the C5. If every generation does not get better in measurable terms like performance, fuel mileage, etc...then something is wrong.
Nor are these cars created in a vacuum. If the C4 was not as good as it was the C5 would not be as great as it was. Keep in mind the basic design of the frame on the C5 and C6 came from the C4 concepts. Better executed however. You can thank Llyod Ruess for the targa top, when the car had been designed as a T Top by Dave McClellan. F-en Management.
My point is appreciate it for what it is, and don't knock it. I never knock C3's or C2's or C1's. A bone stock 84 Crossfire Z51 would outhandle and out brake any of the previously mentioned generations any day of the week. Does it make them bad cars, no, it just makes them older technology that was great in its day. In some ways still great even today. Those cars have a lot of character just like a 84 does. Just in a different way.

It's better looking than a big butt c5, and whats with the nose on them, ugg. I'd take a ZR1 anyday.

Given one?
Make it reliable () clean itup some and drive it/use it as a cruiser thats it.
Takes too much $ and time imo to make any kind of reasonable power and stay emission legal at least out here. Once it starts....know that road too well.
ZR1 was a great car but probably wouldnt buy another for a few reasons...none of them really pertaining to the car itself they are fine.

First off are we all Corvette enthusiasts or not? We all have our likes and dis-likes, No need to bash each gen, I for the life of me don't know why this thread was moved to the C4 section, It was posted in the C5 section as a C5 question, Moving this thread to the C4 section just caused a bunch of grief.
I like all Vettes, Some I would own and some I won't, Thats the nice thing about being able to make decisions. Now we all have the love for the Great American car. Lets not bash each gen.

2019 C3 of Year Finalist (stock)
Kind of strange that this made it here, but since it is...........
I loved my C4 and look forward to tearing into a new one soon. As much as I loved it, it's no C5, but that's OK because in many ways the C5 is no C4. Technology moves on, each generation has the one before to thank for the improvements made. I prefer the lines of a well kept late C3 better than both. Maybe I should go to C3 Gen.
Yes, the butt may be big, but that nose coming at you is as sexy as it gets.
Oh well, let's see some more drama..........
